Standard American cafe. Lean Reuben sandwich. There was nothing over the top about the meal. The staff was nice but the waitress was impersonal. Not that I needed any ‘how u doing sugar?’ Patronage. She had a mouth full of food when I entered the front door where there was a strange bar she stood behind and a separate register off to the right with another attendant. They rocked and rolled through orders serving folks efficiently. The outside patio looked nice and casual. Definitely an above average maintained diner with clean restrooms. It just felt out of place with such a busy Highway by the front door and weird parking by many folks. Something tells me that this whole area had a different vibe during John Steinbeck’s era. I should have checked out that museum in Salinas.

Great no-nonsense food served by two delightful waitresses. I’m happy we stopped at this out-of-the-way roadside eatery. Excellent food.

It was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. I got the double western. it was great! The staff was nice and provided top-notch service.

Great breakfast spot. We shared an Ouellette with bacon and avocado, and one of their huge cinnamon rolls.

I love this little place. It's always busy for a reason. Their french fries are outstanding, and honestly, I've never once ordered any meal that wasn't excellent. I love the Sierra Melt. Kid's menu is nice & inexpensive, and the staff is lovely. Parking is tough, but that's expected at a popular hole-in-the-wall sort of place.

Absolutely wonderful place to stop, it wasn't too busy so I had my order within 15 minutes. Everything tasted fantastic and I found the atmosphere very welcoming.

My husband and family go here a few times a month for either breakfast or lunch. Wonderful, relaxed atmosphere & good food. Their chili verde is sooo good. (They usually only have it on Fridays though.) And their freshly made biscuits and huge cinnamon rolls are amazing!! My kids particularly enjoy their milk shakes. They give back to the community every year by hosting a toy-drive event too. Love the owner & staff!!

We've driven past this restaurant hundreds of times saying we need to eat there. We finally stopped. I had the chorizo scramble which was delicious. The hash browns were how you want them to be. My wife had the chile Verde special which was excellent. It was busy so we got the last table which was in the entrance way by the front door. The manager told a charming story that a couple that has been married many years had their first date at that table and come back every year for their anniversary. The table was private in its own way and you're close to your partner so maybe the story is true! We'll be back.

Wonderful throwback local roadside eatery, which has existed in its current form since 1956 and inhabits a gas station from the '30's. Down-home food in simple surroundings with nice outdoor patio, too. Friendly, efficient wait staff and very reasonable prices. TPC is open only for breakfast and lunch, and it's very popular, deservedly so.

I frequently have breakfast & lunch at Toro Cafe and I am never disappointed. A great family owned business with a comfort food menu that you will not want to miss out on.

The food is good and the cinnamon rolls are good but they need walnuts to make them much better .

On the afternoon of 7/21/2022 my 8 year old daughter and I stopped by the café to eat but first, she needed to use the restroom. I asked and after the classic "look up and down" we were directed to walk across Highway 68 (for safety we drove) to a restroom in the park. After she relived herself, we decided not to dine at Toro Place Café. I was truly surprised that a child was not allowed use a restroom. I could let my mind wander as to why this happened but what's the point. It turned out to be a good learning experience for my daughter as I was able to explain that you never spend your money with people who do not have common decency.

Parking at noon on a Wednesday was awful but worth it. My linguica on a toasted roll w grill onions and peppers was amazing. Potato salad was good after adding a little Mayo and s&p.
