I challenge you to find a place with more hustle than this place. I challenge you to find a place with more forethought than this place. It’s gonna be hard. Talk about a community staple. This place is small but mighty in what they do. Coffee - sure there’s some. Tea - there’s a whole lot (so much great stuff). Some locally made health conscious foods - you bet. But what you really can’t escape here is the amount of HEART here. Leo is welcoming and warm and such a great person to just chat with. He has a smile that greets you that can’t be beat, and he is so incredible at converting genuine care in his customers. When I first went there I observed how he had so many regulars that came in; he knew all their names, he knew about their lives. And he did it all while working a line man that morning. The next time I went, he called my name when I walked in and made me feel like one of those regulars. You can’t get that at Starbucks. Know what you can get at other places? All the sugar and gluten dominant treats. Sure they have their place, but broadway coffee ain’t it. They really work to be conscious of all those things they stock and make. It’s quite refreshing. And while we talk about refreshing - don’t forget their teas if you’re smart. I came in with congestion, asked for a recommendation and they mixed teas on the spot for me that were amazing (classy hippie tea!) I highly recommend stopping by and at least scooping up a couple ounces of one (or more!) of their mixes. It’s legit. The only downside - parking. Some days it’s easy, some it’s not. You gotta work around funky old awkward streets but it could be worse. And it’s not their fault Sacramento is weird. What is their fault? The place is just too damn good. Stop on in. Make new friends. Eat good snacks. Drink great tea (or coffee)!

What the heck? It’s 9:25 on a Monday and this place is closed? No posted hours but today is not a holiday as far as I know. My first time trying to come back since the pandemic. I try to support the mom and pops but this is not how to run a business. Doubtful I’ll be back again. Update: Response from the owner “Thank you for your feed back Chris and for letting us know you are doubtful about returning. I believe that works out for everyone involved. Be well.” Judging from the reply from this business, they do not see any reason to explain their hours. Instead, they inform me they’ll be happy not to see me in the future. Highly constructive. My rating remains one star.

What a sweet local neighborhood gem! Every time I walk into Broadway Coffee (and Classy Hippie Tea Co.) I instantly feel at ease and feel part of the community. The space is lively, inviting and frequently displays paintings and other mediums by local artist. I love that Leo, the owner operator, teaches me something new about; upcoming community events, the neighborhood's deep Sacramento history and of course about their yummy specialty tea (and Classy Hippie Tea Co.), every time I come in. The food is fresh, plant based and just makes you feel good eating it. Keep the mango sticky rice coming!

This place is so cozy and friendly. The owner is super nice and really cares about the customers. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a hot chocolate and they were both so good! They were made to order, so it was "hot off the presses" as they say. I don't live in the area and was there to run an errand, but I'll be back just for the food, the ambiance and the very cool owner!

Great location, great vibes inside. Iced mocha was one of the best ever. Lightly chocolatey, great foam on top. Also serve food it looks like, although I didn’t get any. Will definitely be back.

I had an incredible experience here! I got a mocha and breakfast sandwich with green sauce, all of which were some of the best I’ve ever had! (Seriously the green sauce was amazing) The food is made to order, everything is fresh and delicious. The music is great, good vibes/environment and a great way to start your day. What a hidden gem!

If you're looking for a neighborhood coffee spot in Oak Park, you've found it! Leo, the proprieter, offers fantastic coffee and tea beverages from all over the world, and the locals who come here are extremely welcoming. Food options rotate, but pastries and (excellent) flatbreads are consistent. Did I mention that they have lower prices than the upscale coffee chains that dominate Sacramento’s inner core? If you live nearby, check out their membership options and pop-up events (including guest chefs, music, etc.), as well. You can't go wrong with Classy Hippie Tea/Broadway Coffee at 3200 Broadway! 🔥
