Great place to go (especially for brunch or lunch) if you are a health conscious eater. They specialize in salads, bowls, various kinds of toasts with great bread. Good coffee too. It can be a bit pricey if you're not too careful but we have visited numerous times and it's always been reliably fresh good food and largely organic and local with a nice ambiance and vibe.

Just OK service, food not so OK. Too expensive for what you get. A bowl of soup and a salmon salad was over $45 after tip. When ordering near 4pm, was not informed they were going to close. When I got the food (in to-go containers), I were asked to leave. Once I opened the to-go containers in the car, the food was poor. Salmon was dry, and oderous. Broccoli cheese soup had a layer of oil on top that did not appeal to the culinary experience. Just love the idea of this place. The atmosphere is quaint, and the tables in the nooks at the entrance are a definite photo op! I'll give this place another shot some day. It may have just been a "bad timing" thing. Perhaps if they would have mentioned the impending closure, another eatery would have been visited.

Such a chill healthy eatery. Good food relaxed ambiance. Your food will be packed with organic nutrient filled ingredients with a choice of added protein. Great flavor for being healthy foods too.

Pricey toast that takes 20 minutes to get. I love their value of wholesome good food, and I am willing to pay extra for that. But $10 for toast and $8 for a cup of miso is expensive. Everything ordered for our group was extra salty; miso, Cali bowl and salt on the toast. Maybe the cook was getting sick and couldn’t taste anything. If food wasn’t so salty and faster service I would give them a 4 stars and be okay with the price. Maybe an usual day with the chef.

10 minutes to order and then 20 minutes to get served. We are talking for toast and soup. The staff was friendly but with sloth-like speed. As to the food? The bread, which eventually turns into toast, was an 8 but would have been a 10 if someone decided not to put SALT on it. I have never been eating bread and thought “this needs more salt.” But it’s not just the bread they salt, it seemed to be the main ingredient in the miso soup, in the salad dressing and on the toast. I had to force myself to finish the soup, even though the presentation and other non-salt ingredients were fresh and delicious.

A cozy cafe but the food is way overpriced and it takes them FOREVER to make just toast.

Relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Delicious food—moderately priced. We had the heartwood bowl, and plan on coming back to eventually try every item on the menu!

I had an amazing Heartwood Bowl with quinoa, avocado, smoked salmon, kimchi, greens, etc. The sesame dressing was just the right flavor and not too heavy for this bowl's flavor finish. We also got the hot ginger turmeric toddy...which could have used a bit more ginger and turmeric for me, but warmed me nonetheless.

I have never had a bad meal here. The vibe is great. The staff is great. Im a coffee roaster so I’m a little picky on my coffee…my cappuccino was great. The heartwood cookie was amazing. Not disappointed at all. Great job to the team. One of my favorite places to eat in NC. Two thumbs up!

Wonderful place. Cozy. Food is outstanding. Fritter mushroom bowl is an especially great combination of flavors. We came on a cold rainy day and this was exactly what was needed. Highly recommend!!

I absolutely love your food. The chicken soup is magical. The best chicken soup I've ever tasted. The broth is so delicious and the chicken is highest quality. Tastes roasted then added to broth, I'm guessing. Also love the salmon toast, egg salad toast and the hearty gluten free bread. Love the golden milk and the tumeric ginger limonade. Every meal I've had there was so good. A very special cafe. Thanks.
