Good coffee good food friendly people BUT their hours are so odd and not made clear to the public. I asked an employee what their hours are and she rattled off all kinds of different times on different days, way too confusing. They also need a more efficient set-up for taking orders and making food. I will still keep going back tho. Nice atmosphere.

Just had a meeting there, and what a cool little place this was! Staff was ultra friendly and brought our order over to us. They have some very cozy space up behind the bar area that you don't even realize is there. Probably the warmest atmosphere coffee shop I've been in. A neighborhood gem! I'll be sure to go back!

Coffee was pretty good. Very cool atmosphere. Staff was friendly, but both days we stopped here while in town, things behind the counter seemed pretty disorganized. Day one, they were out of half and half....not great for a coffee shop. Bagel with hummus was ok, but veggie wrap was extremely bland. Would have made a big difference if it had some flavor...a sauce, some hummus? The people were very nice so I would probably give this place another shot the next time we're in Pittsburgh.

Quaint and cozy space. I liked that they had a lower and upper level but it was open. Nice variety of beverages and cafe type food. It can get a little noisy so it might not be the best place if you need quiet.. or bring some headphones. Overall I think it's a nice space and they accommodated our small group nicely.

Cal Coffee is a place I have really enjoyed going to for the past two years. However, the last hand full of times I have went to order a latte the drink is lacking in espresso taste almost to the point of it tasting like hot water. I am wondering if the new employees are aware of how long a shot should be pulled and how to tamper effectively. I hope this issue is addressed.

My personal favorite coffee shop in pittsburgh. They not only have coffee and tea, but a great food menu including healthy and interesting items. The building's set up and atmosphere is also special with board games in the back raised room. And to top it all off, the staff are incredibly nice and hospitable.

Update: I loved this place and came often for a coffee and Acai bowl. The quality wasn't consistant and honestly some employees made the smoothie bowl horrible. Not worth $7 unless its delicious and full of heathy goods.
Absolutely fabulous. My first visit here was a week ago & I've already been here 3 times. Coffee is great and they have a small menu of food items. The Acai bowl was phenomenal and workers are always friendly. There's cozy seating in the coffee shop and also low and high top tables outside. Espresso machine looks top notch. On my list of top 3 coffee places in Pittsburgh

Great coffee, cool place, and really good food.
The day we were there, they were understaffed (apparently one of the employees was out sick) and the woman who was working was patient, effective, and gracious in what would have otherwise been a stressful situation. So a strong ‘A’ for the employees as well. Will be back.

The prices are pretty reasonable, I had a breakfast sandwich, the Beyond sausage was amazing! The baristas are very hospitable and the owners are pretty awesome, if there is a local business that you want to support this is the one worth dropping a nickel from the 1900's on.
