The product itself deserves four stars - locally roasted coffee is hard to come by and Reading Coffee Roasters offers just that. However, the customer service falls closer to two stars. It's hard to choose a good coffee for your taste when the staff refuses to help you by simply telling you what the general profile of the different coffees are.

It started a few months ago when I went in for the first time to check it out. The staff member working was unpleasant, very short when answering questions, and showed little interest in talking about the coffees they sell. I shook it off as a rough day, bought a pound of coffee and went on my way.

I just stopped in today hoping for a better experience, but had no such luck. The same staff member was clearly disgruntled to see a customer. When I asked what the difference in flavor was between two coffees they sold, she quickly snapped back that one of the coffees was out of stock so she couldn't tell me anyway. When I asked about another coffee clearly listed on their daily menu, she said it was out of stock and they only had what was on the menu... where I found it. Eventually she looked across the room and found it in stock.

Overall, if you can get past the lack of customer service or catch them on a better day, the coffee itself tastes good. Part of experiencing good coffee, though, is knowing the background and profile of the roast. If you want to know those things and learn about the coffee, go elsewhere.

Good quality coffee. I love the selection. Even for someone like me that isnt into flavored coffees, they have a wide range to select from. Now carrying a good assortment of teas which are quite nice. Always a good thing to find the hidden gems of a local retailer.

They have a very nice selection of coffee available. Typical blends to some I interesting flavors. Prices are very reasonable for freshly roasted coffee. It would be nice to see coffee being served there. While it may not be he owners objective, it's a thought.

A fine place to get custom roasted coffee beans. Customer service is non existent, and it'd be nice to have sample coffee brewed with at least one or two of their coffees on premises before purchasing beans, but they don't do drinks at all. The gift shop trinkets are fine but kind of odd to see at a coffee place.

As a resident of the area I’ve been purchasing my coffee there for years, California gold, 50/50. Went to Florida in October 2019, came home May 6, went directly for coffee and was told I couldn’t use my card because it expired at Christmas and they had told everybody about it, I did not know so they would not give me my free 1 pound coffee, and the price went up 4 to 5 dollars from what I paid prior in October, unbelievable, Therefore I won’t be buying any more coffee there. One less customer. Could not believe the price jump either, shocking

Reading Coffee Roasters makes the best coffee by far. Made in small batches on the premises the coffee is always fresh. Buy it whole bean or have the coffee ground fresh right there. My favorite is Jazzy Java! They also sell German cookies and snacks. Located on 724 near Birdsboro if you blink you'll miss it.

Nothing smells better than freshly roasted beans. That’s what you get at the RCR I gave this 4 stars for the quality of the product and not particularly costumer service, that gets a star if lucky, they have much to be desired. Look past the grumpy and look at the product, that’s what it’s all about there. Great coffee at a reasonable price! If you like flavored coffee, you can find quite an assortment at the RCR. I prefer the Ethiopian and Tanzania Peaberry and Kenya. I do recommend RCR coffee above all other brands. My wife and I have been drinking their coffee for many years and will keep coming back. Whole bean all the way!

Coffee is pretty good. Tried the Kona Roast. Was expecting more of recommendation based on my preferences. The coffee snob in me wanted to talk coffee and learn more about the local process, and that information was not forthcoming form the staff. They don't sell individual cups of coffee either, but on a plus side I got a free cup from the sample station.

I usually order jazzy java for my sister. She always says she loves it. So I guess that is a good enough reason for me to keep ordering it for her. I like to surprise her without telling her that it is on the way. If it puts a smile on her face, that is all the thanks I need.

I love their coffee! I’ve tried several flavors and they are all very good. Last time I ordered for delivery, it showed up at my house the next day! Very good service. Thanks!
