Holstein's Coffee Co

Holstein's coffee was probably the most delicious brew I've had in months. Perfectly flavored and fresh, the right temperature and a free refill. Their breakfast croissant sandwich was wonderful and their little dining room is cozy and comfortable. The two women on staff this morning couldn't have been nicer - answering questions and filling me in on some local color. Great place to refresh after a great night camping along the Columbia!

This is a late review but the place was memorable. On a roadtrip summer 2016 I stopped here. Coffee was fantastic and the space was nicely put together. Although the service was slow and people were waiting for use of the bathroom after 20+ mins of it being locked... The staff with some attitude acted as if it was no big deal "someone is still in there" when multiple people kept asking the staff for a key. Who knows who fell in. Some other random customers and myself had to go to the market and buy something to be able to use the bathroom. Hopefully the staff are better at handling things now. If not I am sure the market loves the extra business.

Always a good stop for coffee and quick rest when I'm traveling across the state. Very easy to get to off the highway as well.

Such a cute place! Talked to a gentleman who may have been the owner for quite a while about the mountains and trails in the area. I had the breakfast bowl and it was delicious!

Our family had been traveling on vacation. We stopped at the only place we could find along the highway for, what seemed like might be good coffee. Walked in and it took a while to be greeted by staff. It was in the 90's outside so we made the decision to carry our small dog inside with our family of four, so as to not have to leave her in the hot car. We thought we'd be in and out quickly. (We didn't see the drive through when we pulled in or we would have used it.) We placed our order and waited, when receiving our order we were short one lid. I went to grab a lid and extra napkins from the counter when the owner (who had taken our orders, made our drinks, taken our money) came up behind me waving his hands around in the air and telling me to remove my dog away from their food (there wasn't food anywhere where we were standing). And then went on in a rant about how it was a restaurant and no pets allowed and "I don't know if it's a service dog or not but it shouldn't be here." My husband and I were both a bit shocked and taken back by the waving of hands and overall impoliteness, especially in front of our kids. We would have gladly obliged if we had been asked and shown, when we first walked in, the drive through, or even if he had been polite and offered to take our order on the patio instead so we don't bring the dog in. There were so many other ways he could have approached us about the dog. I get it, I personally have a number of years as a barista and coffee shop manager under my belt, but in the years I had worked in the business I had never been so rude and impolite to someone, nor had I ever witnessed other staff or employees treating customers that way. It was just sad and unfortunate. The coffee wasn't great, my iced mocha had a lot of espresso grinds at the bottom, I couldn't even drink it all. We won't go back, with or without the dog.

Charming place to get coffee in The Dalles! Friendly service and great tasting espresso. I got a single shot Americano both times I was here last week.

I will definitely be back the next time I'm passing through the gorge!

The lobby was open and both baristas were both kind people. The interior has a classy but warm feeling to it. I will defunitely go for a sit-in when this pandemic is over and done with.

Just ordered a blended coffee with white chocolate mint flavor, no coffee included. My husband got a chocolate mocha that was severely watered down. Both taste bland but I think it was a different person working today than what we had before. Nail down those recipes.

Friendly enough staff. Decent coffee drinks. Heavy on the single use containers. Not a destination coffee shop for me though I have tried to enjoy a cup of coffee and work on the laptop a couple times here. No need to go back.

This place is always a special treat when I visit The Dalles. I do the milky way as a smoothie and a shot of espresso. Always good, and in the ten years I've been coming here, I've never had a bad experience.
