Warm, cozy and lovely space. Friendly family owned and worth a stop
For some good drinks and a no frills yet chill space to relax. Love the Bear Hug Latte 👍🏻

I think this may be my first and only review ever. That is how important it was for me to share my experience.
Having a large school project due, I spent all day in the shop. Good coffee/food at good prices, but that can be found many places. Upon forgetting the food portion of my order, they brought out my food order with a cash refund and, despite my persistent objections, would not take the money back.
Throughout the day, there were customers of all variety. One specifically, was a regular who clearly has a variety of special needs. The level of dignity, respect, patience, and love they showed this man was incredible. It should not be notable in a perfect world, but it is worth noting because it could have easily been (and often is) handled poorly. He was warmly hosted and only accommodated when truly needed but never overstepping the customer's agency.
This is a community station and staple, worked by incredible people. The coffee and food is good too.

One can't help but walking out of Refuge in a better mood than one came in. Can't put a price on that!
Kimmie and Keith deeply care about Lents and all the various people who may pass through their doors, including those who order a glass of water.
I am such a know-it-all so I'm going to say that during the depths of the lockdown--which happened to be when they opened :-/
I knew they would make it.
With such friendly owners, dedicated to making sure that EACH of their customers feels welcome and gets great service, how could they not? Hence the 4.9 star rating--well deserved.

My boyfriend and I LOVE this place! We always try to drop by for breakfast on saturdays because they have great drinks and breakfast sandwhiches.

This place has great tasting coffee and a good variety. They also have a good selection of sweet or savory snacks to choose from. Music is at a good volume, not too loud but still audible enough to add a positive atmosphere and not disturb readers/students or people who want to chat. Overall, a spacious and inviting place with the coffee and food to back it up.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Portland, and such a great addition to the Lents neighborhood. They have some tasty food, the coffee is great, the space is wonderful and best of all the owners are lovely people who support the community. My husband and I have been going here since they opened, and we have always been impressed!
Refuge has also supported the Friends of Trees annual planting in the Lents neighborhood with coffee. It's wonderful to have local businesses invest in the community like this!
The pandemic has been rough for so many small businesses like Refuge. Do yourself and Refuge a favor: Check it out! You'll be impressed!

Lots of yummy treats to choose from. The coffee is great. Not bitter like some places. Loved the different seating options. A super comfy couch facing the window for some people watching, plenty of tables for work or study, cushy chairs for breakfast with friends. Very friendly folks behind the counter. Good spot to add to the neighborhood and they are open til 8! Even better.

Delicious mocha in a sweet, comfortable coffee shop.
