I'm not super impressed so far. There didn't seem to be enough staff when I went but it was during their opening week and I would have thought they would have gone to extra lengths to ensure a good opening. It took a long time to get a simple coffee. I'm going to give them another chance since they are so conveniently located. Hopefully it was just a fluke!

I am absolutely ecstatic to have my favorite California coffee chain here in the Portland area. I can’t wait for all of the seasonal drinks. I love the flavored iced teas and the ice coffee is a classic. The crushed ice cannot be beat!

I was very excited and hopeful for a new coffee shop replacing the old one. I'd heard good things about The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, so I was incredibly let down by my experience.

First off, I will say they did a nice job brightening the space up. But that's where my praise ends.

I'd read on their website that they offer decaf iced coffee, which I was happy about. But when I got there, they said they don't offer decaf iced coffee. That's okay though, I'm okay with caffeinated too.

I ordered a small iced coffee with milk and sugar. They tell me okay, we can do that. And proceed to ask what kind of sugar I'd like, white sugar, brown sugar, etc. But to me, granulated sugar in an iced coffee doesn't make sense because it wouldn't dissolve. So I ask if they have simple syrup like I get at other coffee shops. And they say no, THEY CANNOT MAKE SIMPLE SYRUP! By this point, I am very disappointed. To me, any coffee shop should have simple syrup.

So I decide instead to order a small iced vanilla latte, overpriced at a whopping 4 dollars and 90 cents. And the worst part is, it's not even a good iced latte! It's a 12 oz. cup filled with ice and cloyingly sweet vanilla latte. It hardly even tasted like espresso.

Needless to say, I walked away incredibly disappointed.

Friendly staff and coffee drinks are great. They don't carry speciality flavors like seasonal peppermint so just be aware, good ambiance and set up. Still need to work out the kinks of opening a new store, app is tricky and non reliable one day a free drink redemption point means any free drink the next day it means medium only drinks (?) staff need to work collectively to make consistency in drinks, twice I've had luke warm latte's and other times they're perfect, same with taste of added shots sometimes it's perfect other times I go it tastes super different

I'm so Glad we finally have coffee bean here in Oregon! this is my favorite coffee shop. I ordered what I used to get back in California and it was exactly the same delicious taste. Keep up the excellent service πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ will keep coming back for sure!

Coffee shipped to us in Eugene from an online order to CBTL was awful.

We ordered a light roast Brazil Cerrado whole bean on June 12, 2022, which we planned to brew in a press pot.

The coffee arrived in a little over a week. We ground 45 grams in a burr mill, heated water to 200 degrees, bloomed the grounds for one minute, then filled the one liter pot. We pressed at four minutes total. This recipe has worked for us for years.

The coffee was awful. During blooming, fresh beans give off a great aroma and bubble up in the pot. These beans gave only the slightest aroma of coffee and there was no bubbling.

In an A/B/C blind test, CBTL came in third. Last place among three coffees that included a stale Keurig pod brewed in a Keurig machine.

On closer examination, the bag stated that the beans were roasted on April 12, 2022, and showed an expiration date of October 2023. High quality beans are stale after one month. These beans were two months old when they were shipped from CBTL

We complained to CBTL twice, each time receiving a standard message telling us that they would look into the matter and get back to us. They did not get back to us. In order to get a refund we were forced to call the credit card issuer. The customer service rep at the bank was a fan of good coffee, understood completely, and immediately issued a refund.

Wow so impressed with the shop and menu, great staff, and very appealing posters of drinks. Carmel's iced coffee was the best they have different small ice cubes it seemed special I stayed inside to absorb the positive experience. Thanks for making my day. Joe

Lovely clean and hospitable atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. I had an excellent almond milk latte and chocolate croissant. Glad to support a family owned coffee and tea establishment.
