The coffee here is very good, but it's a step below Intelligentsia or Stumptown. The service is good, but the grinder is not adjusted correctly. If you want coffee ground for French press, it needs to be set for much coarser than the machine's "French press" setting.

The coffee roasted here is some of the best in the city. Quality beans used by Thornton's always seems to produce a smooth texture and complex flavors that are never bitter or overly acidic.
I strongly recommend the Sumatra

OK, I have to give credit where credit is due. I'm on a break from milk and milk alternatives right now, so I can't have my usual capps. But the ad caught my eye and I asked my coworker to do the coffee run here, bringing me a double espresso with a splash of hot water. Nothing worse than an americano with too much water. It came back with about an inch of water, and was immediately DELICIOUS from the first sip. Not even going to dilute it more, it's perfect for what I'm craving. Nice, fun, interesting coffee (a little bit fruity, but not overly so) and a major departure from what you'll get at most places. Can't wait to try more drinks here when I can!

Super nice, Paul and Rachel made the experience! Well recommend to any one wanting a personal coffee roastery. It's a added bonus that it's roasted in house! Best coffee I've ever drank! Please get Pacific vanilla hemp milk!!!! Only thing that would send it over the top for me!!! (: Very happy customer

There is a lot of good coffee in Portland, now there’s great coffee and it’s on the west side. The service is super friendly and knowledgeable. We grab a couple bags of beans every couple weeks that keeps our cups full and our addiction satisfied.

Coffee is good but I'm taking a star off because employees are selective about who has to wear a mask. If I walk up and see you maskless talking to another customer I'm not wearing a mask. Please don't huff about it and put your mask on which makes me feel uncomfortable. I've been vaccinated for months.
EDIT: The issue I have is with employees selectively wearing masks. When I walked up both the employee and customer were not wearing a mask.

Generational, Experience and Passion are some of the words that come to mind with Thornton Family Coffee Roasters. A cup of fresh coffee with your bag of fresh roasted, never stale (older than 10days), beans! And their customer service is top notch! It's clean, it's simple, it's modern coffee with all the culture and quality from plant to cup! Exactly as the growers intended.

Quality latte I had but I was look at NG for espresso beans for home, and while they had them for the same latte I had, it was very fruity with slight bitter at the end. Still good but not the caramel I expect from espresso beans. They only have a walk up window for coffee and buying items. If you are coming here I was yolf your u can park in front of the loading bays out front.

Great coffee and fantastic customer service. Fun fact, if you're up for an interesting conversation, Sarah is a renowned bovine expert. From health, animal science, farming and agriculture, and other types of related work, Sarah is your go to gal.

Family owned walk-up Coffee bar which doubles as a roastery. Service with a smile and always good coffee. Try the Iced-vanilla latte.
Great place for a socially distanced afternoon pick-me-up. Usually we lounge around in the parking lot outside or on the side catching up with friends and colleauges.
