So you know how you can look at an eclair and from the outside it doesn’t look all that interesting? No real hint of of the amazing creamy filling inside?
Well that’s a little bit like what Swank is like. There are so many flyers and signs in the windows that even with your nose pressed up against the windows you can’t really tell what a sweet, amazing, fun place it really is.
We walked past Swank a few times in past couple of days and had no idea what we were missing until a local took us by the hand and guided us in. And thankful we were! Not only sweet eclair filling, but trans-generational sweet filling. My 95 year old Aunt loved it, the younger set were at home, my crazy old self was charmed as hell and we all had the wildly different, perfectly prepared drinks. Our small group who had a lot of catching up to do felt welcomed and not hurried and the seats were eclectic and comfortable and we had a ball.
I loved how the old dressing rooms have been transformed into private booths/workrooms, an idea that borders on genius. Swanks is full of gift items that fall on the side of clever and funny instead of cutesy or trite and the art is charming and intelligent instead of being mundane and hallmark. In short, the place is a treasure and if I lived here in your fair town I’d be a regular here.
Swanks shows imagination and creativity. It has all those elements that mix together to make a keystone of a community, an essential part of where history and change come together. As a visitor it’s a wonderful feeling to wander into a place like this, to feel this sweet creamy éclair filling, this living changing part of a town.
We’re going to be back on a plane soon and we’ll be packing a goodly amount of great memories with us. There have been wonderful family reminiscences, incredible food, beautiful drives through horse country, and Swanks is going right in there with the rest. A great little treasure in a wonderful little town.

Such a big fan of this charming coffee shop. The power outage really showed just how wonderful this business is for our community. Thank you for the coffee and scones. I have always enjoyed the flavored lattes and unique drinks this place serves up but I will continue to visit even more after the kindness they showed during this tough time for the community.

This is the type of place I wish I had near my house. There is definitely a sense of community. Everyone was so friendly, and it is the kind of place you can grab a great cup of coffee and chill for a minute. Love the atmosphere and merchandise.

Amazing haven! Lovely curated coffee made by genuine and friendly baristas. I come by at least twice a week.
I love how when I come in there’s local art all over the walls. Tables with hand made jewelry, pottery, accessories, and so much more.
There’s also open mic night and other locations events hosted here.
I’m in love with swank.
Thank you so much for working so hard and staying open. I love the vibe!

Coffee is always delicious! And their scones. Friendly staff and fun environment that sells lots of locally made items.

If you have a dog, even if it is good around other dogs. Be aware that the owner doesn't keep their dog on a leash despite their sign saying *leashed* friendly dogs are welcomed. The staff try to defend the owner's dog not being on a leash which, it's a cafe and not a dog park. Not to mention it is very cramped, especially if there is more than one dog in there. Wouldn't recommend bringing your pet here for that reason! Okayish coffee though, but not worth the aggravation. (Edit: I think a 2* is too nice for how the staff acted after my complaint about pet safety)

If it's coffee you're looking for, they've got it. A new shirt to show your regional pride? Check. Gifts? Check. Piano to practice your latest etude? Check. Friendly staff? Check. Reward system? Check. Plus, there's super cute long-haired dachshunds hanging out in the store all the time.

$45 plus dollars on coffee for my family, because why not!! Cool atmosphere. Tasted delicious, however pretty sure we all went into diabetic coma. Would highly recommend. BYO insulin.

My sister gets her coffee beans here so we had to stop by and try when we were in town. To our delight the shop was dog friendly. The drinks were delicious and the cinnamon crunch scone was *chefs kiss*. My son gave them two thumbs up!

Delightful and welcoming coffee shop with a great vibe in Southern Pines - coffee is good but could be better.
