I feel like I need to post a review to balance out so that other out of towners aren’t confused by the high reviews.
This place is run by campus ministry. It is run and operates on a suggested donation basis, which is great, but don’t come in here hoping for a quick cup of coffee. It’s a long, slow process to finally get your coffee and the volunteer on shift will have to run around and help with every other facet of the place while making your coffee.
Also, the barista we had wasn’t super experienced or great at drink making sooo, left something to be desired coffee wise. My latte came out cold.

Great find of a coffee shop with helpful attentive service. Great vanilla latte.

I love this coffee shop. It's the perfect place to get away from school and get studying done, or hang out with friends. I have been coming to Hillside for the 4 years I've been at WCU and it's always been the perfect place to come for coffee. It's also dog-friendly!

Didn't spend too much time here but from the moment I walked in I was impressed. It's a great building! The staff was super friendly and welcoming. We ordered a couple of coffee drinks and they were perfection. It seems like a really great place for the college kids (yes, I'm old 🤪) to hang out in. We were kind of rolling through so we only got to take in the scenery for a short period of time. I will definitely be putting this on my list of places to head back to and spend more time in.

Great friendly place to get flavored expressos or lattes. Plenty of places to sit inside and outside and relax or have a meeting.
You can even chill out in hammocks outside on a nice day.
Free Parking is on the left side in the gravel parking lot.
Commuter students can rent a parking spot in the parking lot on the right to always have a spot close to the academic buildings, UC, and Caf.

Cute and cozy little place. The staff is friendly, the coffee is delicious, and the music is great! The prices are very reasonable and a much better alternative to starbucks in that sense.

I go here every week at least once or twice and the service I receive is prompt and courteous. It’s a great place for coffee, quick bite to eat, or to do homework. This is now my go-to spot as the Hillside Grind employees always provide great customer service!

Hillside Grind is a comfortable coffeeshop where students often visit to socialize, study, or get their daily dose of coffee. They also offer soda, chai, tea, smoothies, muffins, and granola. The baristas are friendly and their drinks are always very tasty. The coffee shop is a ministry outreach of UKirk, the Presbyterian (PCUSA) student led ministry on campus. For this reason, coffee is offered at a 'suggested dontation'. There are couches, chairs, and tables inside as well as a few picnic tables outside. There is WiFi. Parking is free to customers. There are food trucks here from Monday-Thursday alternating between the Chilli Chomper(Tacos) and The Rice Wagon (Hawaiian).

This is a great little coffee house and is a good, local alternative to Starbucks. The coffee is good, the people are friendly, and there are couches to hang out on and places to study. There's a taco truck that's usually parked outside in case you're hungry too.

Clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent coffee offerings. Great place to hang out or work using their free Wi-Fi. Religious factor is not blatant or oppressive. This place is a great asset to Cullowhee and Jackson county. I'm happy to support this coffeehouse and its mission. Thank you, Hillside Grind!
