My wife and I stopped in for some coffee the other morning, and we both loved Bald Guy Brew. Most importantly, the coffee was delicious: my espresso had a great crema, mouthfeel, and flavor (a lot of espresso I have is lacking in one of those three categories). My wife said her cappuccino was wonderful, and it was presented very well.
The atmosphere was clean and inviting, and the staff friendly. We got to meet the eponymous Bald Guy himself, and he was engaging and you could tell he had a lot of pride in his work and wanted to deliver a quality experience.
While we were there, they got their morning delivery of pastries from a nearby baker—I didn’t get to try one this time, but they did look great as well.
If you are in Blowing Rock, come by and get a great cup of coffee!

Stopped in here today and we picked up some of the cold brew coffee on tap! Say what?! Infused with nitrogen and incredibly smooth. My wife immediately informed me that we needed the same on tap....ha! Service was excellent and my wife and daughter were extremely satisfied with the coffee.

Cute indoor space, plenty of outdoor seating. Cup sizes are smaller than most places and brewed coffee selections midday were limited to a medium roast. Cold brew was OK.

I had high expectations for my first trip. It was just ok. I had the honey lavender latte and there wasn’t much lavender flavor and their hot cocoa had very little cocoa taste. I will say the macaroon was delightful. Overall, the wait was very long and not worth it.

As a local who lives here year-round, I feel extremely fortunate to have a coffee shop like Bald Guy in town. Fair-trade, organic coffee roasted perfectly. Great specialty drinks, and fantastic service. I usually don't even have to say my order out loud - the baristas start making it as soon as I walk in the door. "Por la amistad" is imprinted on the wall in the shop, which means "for friendship". They take that seriously.
I've also never met someone who knows more about coffee than the owner. Don is truly a genius on all-things-coffee. An artist and a mad-scientist. His roastery is top-notch, and he is very dedicated to the Fair-Trade aspect of the coffee business. He's built relationships with the people in his supply chain all over the world, and makes sure that everyone is being fairly compensated for their work. I'm always happy to pay a small amount more for the coffee here knowing the farmer is being treated with respect and paid fairly for their beans - something that's often not the case in the coffee business.
Whether you're a local or a visitor: If you're looking for a great cup of coffee, I can't recommend this place enough.

To watch a batista pour out a coffee knowing it won't be to my liking, this is next level coffee. I will continue to frequent this place as long as this customer satisfaction is the focus. Great service! Great coffee!

Had some meetings near Blowing Rock so made it a priority to get to Bald Guy for a mid morning cup. Once again, Don delivered a great cup of coffee. Truly the best cup of coffee in Blowing Rock. Great ambiance in the shop too. I even overheard the barista talking with the customer after me (who was from Charlotte) and the barista really engaged in the conversation, answered questions, asked questions, just showed great customer service and represented the high country well. I was impressed. BGB in Blowing Rock is a must stop for a cup.

Small but clean, well-staffed, delicious coffee, friendly service. The 4 staff worked to fill the rapidly coming orders expeditiously. Only complaint: as with 99% of coffee shops, a hot tea was served with 12 oz. of water - never more than 8 please....

Showed up at 4:01 and they denied us service, because they closed at 4:00. We love their coffee and hot chocolate, but couldn't have it. This is bad customer service. We had a nice conversation with some people when we parked the car, strolled down to the coffee shop and .... "Nope! We will not serve... we closed at 4" They probably saw us walking up to the door as they shut the door.

The employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. They were very kind with all of our basic questions. The coffee is very delicious. They take true care to provide an excellent product and experience without charging an exuberant amount for the privilege.
