I was here to see Pete Francis, formerly of Dispatch, perform with one of his new band mates as part of a SoFar Sounds event. The venue is incredible, with pristine acoustics and a very intensely inspirational and positive vibe. I would love to go back for another show I the future. Heads up: it's BYOB and get there super early if you want to sit somewhere other than the floor (but the rugs are super soft and comfy).
Had an outstanding experience working here! The space is clean and well cared for, and our engineer was an absolute pro. Would book here again in a heartbeat!
This place is great, hallowed halls for sure. If the walls of this place could talk, I'd be really interested to hear what they had to say. One of the last classic, large studio spaces left in NYC.
Best staff, acoustics, gear and legacy of any studio in the USA. Pixar, Disney, Universal, Sony, Netflix, HBO, Apple, Warner, Title, Spotify, Broadway cast albums; the clientele is top notch as well.
Saved from becoming Condos in 2017 by Berklee, Pete Müller and the City of New York, the studios underwent a massive renovation that added state of the art video and data infrastructure, including 360 Cinematic VR with immersive audio.
Berklee offers a Master of Arts in Creative Media and Technology here now, which coexists seamlessly with the professional studio operations.
i'm not a big religion guy, but a place like the studio A live room at power station is about as close to a church as things get for me. if you're casually researching huge, largely-unnecessary-yet-iconic-and-legendary live recording spaces, then you've hit the jackpot, man.
there are precious few of these facilities left. most have been cannibalised, turned into retail meaninglessness or worse.
luckily, power station (formerly known as avatar) has been saved from tis fate, and now continues on as the NYC campus for berklee school of music.
despite the extensive renovations, the live rooms of the studios have been largely kept the same, so the esoteric vibe and history of the place is palpable.
do you need to record your mumble rap or EDM masterpiece here? no. but if you have a 60-piece orchestra or a need to capture legendary vibes once belonging to the likes of bruce springsteen, sting, and robert palmer, then this is your spot.
oh and if you want to learn about music production and how to be a real, honest-to-goodness certified musician type, then berklee is the spot for you, too!

Best studio in the United States, bar none. It's a shame it got closed down.

Great gear, awesome crew, the live room is all wood, great place to track just about anything. Legendary studio.

OMG! The facility is beautiful, the engineer (it's a recording studio/multi-media school) was effective and efficient! A wonderful experience!
