Stedman Cafe

They can’t figure out how to brew some of the best-roasted coffee around I guess. It’s basically water. Servers try their best, but service can be pretty dag slow. Omelet overcooked. Used to be nice place, not so sure anymore.

The food was great. But for some reason we got caught between the cracks. The waitress came to the table and got our drink orders. And then she disappeared and I had to ask the young man that was bussing the tables he could get a waitress for us. We waited way too long waiting for the waitress. But again the food was great. I'll go again. Always willing to give a second chance for good food.

Such a cute place. Fits Chautauqua perfectly. I brought my friends the next time I was in town. Very local, ancient building, waitress was so nice.

The breakfast was amazing!! Our large party sampled a variety of items and all of them were top notch. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious food, great service and a relaxed atmosphere!! ❤️

Cool little mom and pop! Great breakfast and they have a lunch menu too. Really awesome outdoor patio to eat on that was very rustic and in touch with nature! Would definitely go back!! Plus they have a kitty named Larry 😻

I was a little worried when I saw the building BUT OMG!!!! This is the BEST food I have ever had!! I live four hours away and I would make this drive again just for the food. If I could give it more stars I would. This place if the definition of a diamond in the rough!!! 10000/5 stars.

We were very pleased to find this little restaurant off the beaten path. The food was very good and it's evident someone in the kitchen knows what they're doing. Soups were excellent. Hence the 4 stars. Would have given it 5 stars except for two things; Our young waitress was pretty lousy; she was slow to get us everything; drinks, menus, etc. , and she didn't seem to care that we were waiting way too long. Also, during our waiting, we noticed how really filthy and dusty the display shelves in the eating area were. Yuk. We hope the kitchen isn't like the eating area. When did you last clean??? Suggestion - hire more help on the weekends.

Update Aug 2018

OK. We have been back. The overall look is significantly cleaned up. The food is good, the wait people have been OK, and there is a very layback, fun feel to the place. In nice weather they have a lovely patio off to the side, which we'll try next time. Oh, and currently there are no cats in the restaurant. However, we spoke to someone who offered there are one or two young kittens that will be allowed into the restaurant once they are old enough and can be trusted. Oh well. Shrug.

Started out great, ended with an 11 year old very hungry kid almost in tears and starving. His pancakes were burnt on the outside, liquid on the inside (griddle too hot folks). We asked for new pancakes....same exact plate returned just microwaved. First big FAIL. They were of course still inedible. Tried to order my kid something else...was told NO the kitchen wouldn't take any more orders but he could have a muffin. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Very young waitress with a LOT to learn about customer service I'm guessing didn't even tell the kitchen about the poorly cooked pancakes. She did not even try when it was easy to see the kid was near tears. Usually a cozy tasty place to eat when in town several times a year. Never again. Food mishaps happen. Bad customer service is unforgivable.

I had to get some work done in the road so I utilized Google maps to find me a place to stop along my route. I was more than pleasantly surprised when I walked in the door. It was adorable and the staff was friendly.
I was just planning on stopping for coffee and WiFi usage but I was offered a menu and after first turning it down I thought "why not."
I had some of the vest steak and eggs I have ever had. The steak was cooked perfectly.
I highly recommend this place. Great find on a long trip.

The best coffee!! I love their Chautauqua blend, can't get coffee that great from anywhere else! The quality is top notch! Stop in their adorable cafe for a yummy sandwich or gourmet meal! Really nice people with a gem of a place! Make sure to stop!!
