I have been a local, but 2 years ago I had to move out of state. I have been coming back to the area at least twice a year. Had the Running George - Brazil, Medium at the Syracuse Regional Market the other day (Sunday). I have had their other verities of ground coffee a few years back, and both times it has been amazing, to say the least. It's so refreshing to have freshly roasted coffee, not like the ones in the store, where it may have been roasted months if not years ago. To me a coffee should be either Light or medium roast, I believe Dark roast kind of burns the coffee beans, but that's just my opinion.

Location in Lowville is a bit difficult to find, if your not a local, or don't already know where to go. Not, currently, a formal, customer facing experience when you walk in. - I'm not saying it was a bad one. Staff was friendly and engaging, and it was easy to get the lay of the land. Baked goods were delishish as was the coffee. Coffee really was at another level. I'd love to see the coffee shop/bakery progress into a more formal/traditional experience, that is more easily recognizable, without sacrificing the charm and the smells of the current layout. I wish these guys the best!

I'm not a big coffee person, but my wife loves their coffee. I'm a big fan of the Pain au chocolate (croissant with chocolate inside).

I have ordered their dark roasts (Rough and Ready and Black River) multiple times through their website. Each time the coffee has arrived via USPS priority mail, well packaged with a nice note enclosed from the owner. On each occasion, the coffee that arrived had been roasted within a few days.
The dark roasts that we have ordered are much better than Starbucks or other big chain coffee brands.
I would highly recommend Tug Hill Roasters as not only is their coffee very high quality but they are a locally owned upstate company that supports the community.

Found this Tug Hill coffee at a farm in PA while traveling, so bought some on a whim. It is the best! I don't buy any other coffee anymore and have placed quite a few orders. They are fast and efficient, always include a nice note. Sumatra French Roast is a favorite, dark but no bitter. The Rough & Ready has great flavor too. Guatemala Antigua is a great blend, wonderful aroma as is the Whitetail Blend, we keep that on hand when having guests or to give as a gift.

We traveled to the roaster, kind man told us about all their coffees. What a delicious smell, we have tried 2 so far, so smooth. I like that you can taste the coffee and no acidity. We are going tomorrow to buy more.

set aside the fact that each of the 5 or 6 varieties I've tried have been equally fresh and delicious..and that the order processing is like two clicks and two days every single time. Tug Hill knows what customer service is.. and how a great small business should operate. Man, how refreshing all this is. thank you, Vanessa and Scott. I hope coffee lovers everywhere are finding you.

McClellan Cavalry is my favorite! I buy the grounds to make at home. Adams Center Market (Valero) serves it by the cup as well!
