Wonderful little secret in Lowville New York so if you’re heading to the thousand islands or lake Ontario and back from there to Utica or the Mohawk Valley or Manhattan wherever this is a great little spot—nice people great coffee nice selection of baked goods too.
Cafe Z always has great coffee and friendly service. They have some standard roasts that stay the same, as well as a rotating selection from around the world.
They get fresh bagels every Monday, and fresh donuts every Friday and Saturday, as well as a variety of different pastries, breads, and cakes throughout the week.
The seating areas are comfortable and cozy, though it's a pretty small place so seating can fill up fast if it gets busy.
So glad that this great cafe is in Lowville. It’s cozy, has a good menu, and is one of the only places I know of to get espresso in the area. I love to see small privately owned businesses doing well. The coffee and atmosphere is so much better than what you get at the chains.
Fun coffee shop that seems to be the center of the community. Several strengths of coffee and amazing variety of flavors to add. I had a medium roast that was delicious. The bagels with peanut butter are also tasty.
I drive 120 miles from one of my offices to this one 2 doors down from Cafe Z and I dream of Cafe Z coffee and yummy treats the whole way. Great people, great coffee, great treats, amazing atmosphere. I just love it.
This would have been a 5 star place because my iced coffee was excellent, the GF Peanut Butter cookie was amazing, the place was super cute and cozy...however, the service was very poor. The man working there seemed extremely annoyed that I decided to come into the Cafe. He didn’t smile once. Was very curt with me. As I am not from town, and therefor had never been there I asked, “I don’t see the straws, where are they?” Oh my, it’s as if I asked for a free refil! He exasperatetly threw his hand in the direction of the straws (which aren’t plastic yay!). Later on a woman showed up and was nice as first but later on made some not kind comments about my friends young 3 year old. :/ All that said, customer service was a 1 star, the food, atmosphere and drinks where 5.
I used to live in Lowville and wished that when I lived there I had had a cafe Z. They place is small and welcoming. It has a big city feel in a small town setting. Whenever I visit Lowville I always pay a visit to the Cafe Z.

Quaint coffee house. Extensive espresso drink menu, decent tea seletion, locally baked sweets. Half and half, milk ( whole, 2%, and skim available), and soy are availible.
