Sacred Root Kava Lounge & Tea Bar

Tons of great teas, kombucha, etc. They always have one or two *amazing* homemade desserts behind the bar. A huge, comfortable, dimly lit space with lots of character (used to be an eagle's lodge or something like that). The Irish sessions on Tuesdays are fun. I know the name is weird, but no this is not religious or culty or anything. It's just regular friendly Ithaca hippies. The cult place is called Mate Factor. Sacred Root Kava is nice and has nothing to do with them. Sacred Root Kava has gone out of its way since it opened to host all kinds of wonderful local music and community events. Oh, and they have kava. I don't care for the stuff, but if you like kava, they have multiple varieties of that as well, in shells, with pineapple slices.

Every visit to Kava Bar is fun and enjoyable! I love bringing my out-of town friends here to show them our local treasure.

Lovely weirdo place--all the Ithaca stereotypes in one place. Friendly staff; a nice alcohol alternative. Definitely worth a visit, especially before 8 on weekdays when the kava is half price.

The sound in this location for live bands is amazing, something I had not experienced before. Kava is tasty, staff is friendly.

It was a really wonderful experience with an amazing knowledgeable "bar" host. I will be back for sure. I recommend mixing the coconut vanilla with the chocolate almond kava, amazing flavors. 🙂🙏❤

An amazing place with tons of atmosphere. Everyone you meet WILL be friendly and helpful. Ask questions, get answers. This is a go-to spot to visit when you hit Ithaca.

Sacred Root is has a beautiful, comforting atmosphere, kind, knowledgble staff, and lovely live music performances. It's a wonderful place to relax.
