Texas Cafe

This place is great... hot dogs, burgers, fries with gravy, salads, subs, Italian, Greek, everything you would expect from a dinner and even when their packed the service is still quick and the waitresses are some of the nicest you'll find. The laid back atmosphere and affordable prices make it perfect for taking the kids out, a nice tasty meal for two, or calling an order in and grabbing a meal to go.

It was busy but our waitress was very nice. I don't know her name though. Food was fast for how busy it was and tasted good...

Had the Texas burger with French fries and gravy. Very good, but most importantly they are very serious and very well coordinated about COVID precautions with hand sanitizer available, multiple signs about face mask use, taping off every other table, employees wearing face masks, and they sanitized the booths, tables, and condiments after each customer. Extremely impressed.

They have fresh fish on Friday nights which is unusual for this area. There was plenty of food and I went home with 1/2 fish (enough for a fish sandwich the next day!) Everything was fresh and homemade. My husband loves breakfast there. He loves to read the newspapers they provide for customers, too.

My friend was a little iffy about dining here bc the dining room looks kind of grungy. I've been there several times in the past, it just looks like an old diner. The service was excellent and the fried chicken was delish. My husband loves those Texas hots. My friend was not impressed with his meal, but liked the fries. The Texas Cafe is a Hornell tradition.

Great prices and good service. The food has always been the same since I was a kid. Comfort food! Love the texas hots and fries with gravy!

Not gonna lie the food here is hit and miss. Basically find something you like and stick with it. I've gotten stuff that was so salty you couldn't eat it. I've also gotten stuff that I was like man this is delicious. Since the changed chefs its been better. I pretty much know which chef knows how to cook and which doesn't. Besides that some one tried to steal my BF's phone when he stood up to go pay the bill and left it on the counter to hold his sitting spot while he waited on the food. Luckily he saw the guy put it in his pocket and was able to get it back. So watch your stuff when you're in there. (it wasn't a staff member it was a fellow customer otherwise the stars would be waaaay lower) The girls that work there are SUPER nice too.

The eggs were like eating slime. And the waitress with tattoos all over her arms were to busy about showing her arms off to people then making sure our table was happy.
