I’d give this place 2 stars, but the atmosphere and staff were great. It’s clearly popular among middle/high school students. It’s a pretty chill spot.

But my purchases were prepared in a untypical way. I ordered an ice chai latté and half the ice melted because the barista used hot water to make my drink. As a result I now have a lukewarm/room temperature drink. You can see in the photo that there’s no ice in the drink. If I can make a suggestion: just use a little hot water to mix the chai powder and finish the drink off with cold water. And consider using milk instead of water, since most chai lattes are made with milk. I saw that it said it was made with water but I assumed the powder must have been very rich? Anyway, milk would have made this drink perfect. I ended up adding a few creamers to mine once I got to my office and it’s a little better.

I also ordered a bagel with cream cheese. The barista didn’t toast the bagel so I asked if she could and she said they don’t toast bagels? That was odd. The only thing I can think of is you turn the toaster off at a certain time, which I get.

I would definitely come back more if the chai latté was made properly! It is a cool café for sure and I am happy to support small businesses.

Fantastic coffee, really cool shop. Absolutely worth stopping by if in the area but honestly worth driving a bit for as well. Highly recommend. The Black Cow (drink) is delicious and worth a try.

Coffee taste is really really good good.
It is very fresh, and full body.

Great Coffee piping hot. Wish I had a chance to try the cappuccino. They roast their own beans and have lots of space to sit down and work

Great Cafe! Has an excellent cozy, coffee atmosphere. I can even get my math studies done in this cafe. Staff makes great conversation and they even roast their coffee beans in front of you. Wow! Black Cow Cafe is perfect for Croton on Hudson.

Best coffee shop I’ve been to by far! the prices are reasonable compared to Starbucks and with coffee that is much higher quality. The people behind the counter are also helpful and courteous

Wow! The choices are plenty. Experienced Baristas guidance lead to a fabulous Egg Nog Latte! Many delicious offerings to enjoy with your choice of hot or cold beverages! Comfortable chairs. Plenty of nitches to find. Or up the stairs for shopping! Our New Place to read the NYC Times and relax with my Hubbs!

The best. We love Starbucks , but the Black Cow is worth the trip from Yorktown for us every time. Great place with great atmosphere and excellent coffee and pastries. Super staff as well and the Croton River Walk is nice and close by too for nice days.

My go to place for coffee when I lived in the area. The coffee is great and there is usually a spot where you can sit down and relax inside. Parking is easy to get as well (street and lot). They take both credit card and cash so don't worry too much if you left your cash at home!
