(March 21 2023)To fellow truckers and travelers food not open at 5am like Google says opens at 6am. Nobody thought it was a good idea to update Google info.

First, I got an order to go because I was in a hurry. I ordered Huevos Rancheros, over medium on the eggs. Every yolk on my eggs were broken, the refried beans were crusty scraping off the side of the pan and for all that it took 42 minutes to get the order prepared and out the door. My order did not include utensils or the side condiments for each item.
The worst thing was sitting there watching the old waitress with the bad bleach job, eat, touch her face, bus tables and then grab people's food and take it to their table. As a Truck Driver, I could have fueled at Alsups for 10 cents a gallon less and at 100 gallons that is 10 dollars. And that 10 dollars would have gotten me 2 egg McMuffins and a large coffee with change. I have ate inside and the portions are larger and hotter...I imagine there is a sense that there is no accountability with 2 go orders, with people you don't see everyday. But reality is, I have stopped here minimum of 3 times a year for over 20 years and what I experienced and what I saw will force me to consider other options next time through. I know it won't break you, but it is no way to build a business either. The waitress needs to be retrained or fired. I told her to go wash her hands at one point, so you know exactly who I am.

Big Rustic is a great value.
Coffee HOT and the staff was continually topping off.
It was a bit loud, but patrons conversing across the room to other tables.

My little sister had the Philly stake sandwich and 20 minutes later she threw up twice and felt much better.

We stopped for breakfast on our way home from a holiday trip. The server told us they were understaffed, with only herself, one cook, and one dishwasher.

Despite the short staff, everything about our meal was amazing! Our food came out faster than some fully-staffed restaurants and it was absolutely amazing! Everything tasted so so good! Plus the staff (and a local gentleman) were incredibly friendly and clearly took a lot of pride in the food they served.

Overall, I am so happy we picked this place for breakfast and the next time I drive through Alamogordo, I'll probably stop again!!!

Best place in town for breakfast! They have an awesome atmosphere that is very unique. The prices are great and the food is even greater! Service is always top notch and everyone is super friendly. Come check this place out today! (They are very kid friendly)

You definitely need to stop and eat here. Although the restaurant is attached to a gas station the food is amazing. The service is awesome too. I stopped here at night and got their big rustic plate. There was so much food that I couldn't eat it all. The grits here are awesome, some of the best I've ever had.

After 10 to 15 minutes we got our menus. Finally they took our drinks order. 10 minutes later a waiter took our order. A couple came in after we did. The waiter took their order.. Before we knew it they got their meal. We had already been waiting a total of 45 minutes. The 4 staff at the front were just standing around talking. We could see dishes ready to be taken out to customers sitting at the kitchen counter. A cook in the back yelled "pick up please." Then two of the staff picked those plates and took them out to those customers who were waiting for their meal. Still nothing for us! All of them came in after we did! We decide that's it. We told the staff at the front to cancel our order, but we pay for our tea. We also told the staff at the front how poor the serve was. A lady in the back came out and said sorry, but they had a new cook but were now working on our order...!!! First impressions can make or break a business.
We are from out of town. Not impressed at all.
