The Bean Street Cafe / Magic Beans Coffee

Just left bean street after ordering a Rueben. First they called to tell me they were out of corned beef, do I Mind turkey? I’m pretty easy going so I said yes. I pick up my “sandwich” bring it home to find it on soggy white bread, old turkey that was brown (definitely not edible), a pinch of sauerkraut, no dressing … I won’t even let my dogs eat this. Stick to breakfast bean street or start closing at 1pm, lunch is not your strong suit .

I really wanted to like this place given that I live in Kings Grant, and was hoping the change in management would be an improvement, but have found it’s not the case. I will say the first pork roll egg and cheese I ordered since the ownership change was fine. It was only one slice of pork roll, but it was a thick slice so no complaints there. The staff is incredibly nice as well, and that’s always a plus. However, the multiple times we’ve ordered bagels/breakfast sandwiches since then the order has been incorrect. Sometimes you get one slim slice of pork roll, so small you can barely taste it on the sandwich. I’ve asked for the bagel to be toasted and twice it wasn’t. They also forgot to make one of the bagels I ordered today, and didn’t notice until I got home. If it wasn’t for my 3 year old I probably wouldn’t have gone back to pick it up, but she was looking forward to it. Hopefully the reader of this review will have a better experience if they choose to go here, but due to the lack of consistency and quality I’ll be spending my money elsewhere.

This place seriously need to rehire a whole new staff team. Every time I order from here the order is wrong. The wait time I don't mind, but messing up every order is really annoying. If there is a way to screw up your order this place will do it. I think just a simple order of making oatmeal is easy enough for them. Oat meal in cup, done! That's it, simple. Don't come with a complicated order such as a toasted bagel with cream cheese. This is too hard for them to make and too many steps that they will mess it up. Keep your order very very simple and maybe they won't mess it up

Paid $12 for a coffee and a sandwich but it was a BIG sandwich so I’m fine with that. The biggest reason I gave it 5 stars was the taste. The food is 100x better than any big name coffee store sandwiches they compete with. Not sure why this place is getting negative feedback. I waited about 7 mins, which is reasonable considering he made it to order—not just some pre-made sandwich that was laying around for hours. Will definitely be back soon.

Good place to get some bagel breakfast and coffee was ok as well.

I wanted to like this place because I prefer to support local businesses. I ordered three bagels and three supposedly amazing cinnamon buns. The cinnamon buns were so tough that I could not chew it, the bagels which were requested to be toasted were ice cold and rock hard. I understand it was a DoorDash order but I thought maybe for 40 dollars something would have been good. My children liked the cinnamon buns because of the icing, which I found revolting. Maybe it was an off day but I don’t plan on ordering again.

My card wasn't working and she gave me a hot coffee for free. So sweet, made my day even better!!! Thank you for your generosity. I promise to pay it forward. And I definitely will be coming back!!! Forever customer now!!!

Poor service. I stopped by today to get a cup of coffee. Coffee was cold, when I brought it up to their attention I was told that I should get the winter blend since it’s fresher. I poured the winter blend and it was still cold, not even slightly warm. So I just left. Then I received a text from them asking for my review and I gave them my honest opinion. Later that day I receive a phone call from a manager I guess asking why I left such a bad review, so I explained again. And I was told that I supposed to ask for a hot fresh coffee since they are slow and only make coffee at 7am and obviously it’s going to be cold by noon. Well done Bean Street Coffee!
