Cannon Mountain tram is very cool! The views are unbelievable on a clear day! The folks at the ticket office, the folks working the tram, loading and unloading along with the guides are all very knowledgeable and friendly. Steer clear of the Cafe 4080 and it's help! They must hate their job! Hate their jobs! Maybe even hate life. It's a 8 minute ride to the top, the same back and the time spent on top is up to you, so, I'd you went to Cafe 4080 to eat, you're nuts anyway!
A very welcome destination at the top of Mt. Cannon. 4080 being the elevation at the top of the mountain. We hike to the top of Cannon Mountain each year and then treat ourselves to a hearty lunch. I am partial to the NY Reuben sandwiches which are excellent. The food is cooked to order and is very good. They also serve alcohol at a small bar set up with bistro style tables and chairs. Most visitors ride the aerial tramway to the top. We prefer to hike up, have lunch and then ride down.
Kinda an odd feeling to arrive atop a mountain after a faaairly brutal (but enjoyable!) hike and be greeted by a bustling eatery, but such is the canon mountain experience.. As far as the food goes, grabbed a serving of the chicken fingers and was not disappointed. It also serves as a nice refuge on particularly cold and damp days to warm up a bit before heading back down.
Beer at 4000 feet thank you. Hikers dream. Damn it's 9 a.m. no bartender. What kinda place is this. Still cool coffee it is. No worries I brought my own. Summit beers. Cheers! Great place to dry of from rainy hike. One hike you don't need to pack a lunch.
Love this place normally! Came today with my grandma from out of state and the cafe is closed for renovation...I checked online and it said it was open and listed its normal hours. Pretty disappointed that nobody at the base said anything before selling us the tram ticket.
Food was basically cafeteria food, not bad, but not amazing. I had a ruben sandwich with homemade chips and my wife ordered chicken fingers and french fries... it was filling and tastey but dont expect a gourmet meal. It was a comfortable, cozy place with great views.
Grab a beer at the highest taps in NH. Or grab some snacks before your walk, or when you get back. The restrooms are small and there can be a line. Also, there is outdoor seating but some serious sun will get ya.
Are the Cannon conditions "Granite", "Lumber", and/or "Boiler Plate"?
Are you an intermediate skier who thought they would go up the tram and be fine?
Do you need a little liquid courage to get you down the slope?
If so this is the place for you. Have a few brews and the worry about getting down later. Your skiing will absolutley improve after a few, I guarantee it.
Remember the beer always tastes better at the top.

I think I've paid less at an amusement park for tenders & fries with 2 Gatorades. Better off bringing your own food!
