Historic building but well kept.. Great bed and room! Got breakfast downstairs at the Cafe and that was amazing. Worth a little more money to stay here for sure.

Stopped in for dinner with the family and had amazing service and the whiskey steak was probably the best steak I've had in a while. Servers were so nice to my little girls. Will be our go to restaurant when we stay at sleeping buffalo near by.

The Great Northern is a historic hotel in Malta and re-built in the '70's (I believe). One of the few coffee shops open early in the morning, which is great if you are hunting the 620. Good coffee and breakfast food choices. They also have a high end dining room serving steaks, fish and other items for a memorable dinner. The staff is friendly and helpful as well.

Dad and I took my mom out for a birthday supper tonight at The GN. The waitress (whose service was on point and stellar as ussual) recommended the whiskey rubbed rib eye and wow! Not only was the flavor phenomenal but It was also grilled to absolute perfection. Yet again The Great Northern has proven to be one of the places in town to eat!

Service was the best. The blackened prime special was the size of a small roast, and cooked to a perfect med well as ordered. The chicken fried steak was a real piece of cube steak, not ground beef like so many places. Was not the least expensive meals but definitely worth the price.

This is a cool old hotel. But, there is no elevator and we were on the third floor. We never did figure out when the cafe was open. Staff was nice.

This place is an awesome stay! Rooms are newly remodeled, clean, fresh and very quiet. Breakfast was amazing too. We checked in about 8pm and I walked through the restaurant. I saw a plate of prime rib go by. OMG, looked wonderful. The staff was very friendly. What a great stay! Good basketball players come from Malta.
Anyway, if your passing through Malta and hungry, breakfast was the best I have had in awhile. Thanks GN and aMaota
