Cold Smoke is an awesome little family owned coffee shop local to Boseman, and the staff is very friendly.

That being said, I have occasionally been confused by the service; I once ordered a Chemex, and after having the barista explain to me the fine details of why the coffee that I chose had an inferior flavor in her optinion based upon the scent (a welcome opinion suggesting an adept knowledge of coffee), she then proceeded to pour my Chemex into paper cups without asking, which any coffee guru would know defeats much of the purpose of such a careful way of brewing. That being said, I don't care much to be a coffee snob so long as I get my fix; the cup was still good, though overpriced, as much of their food and drinks are.

Even so, it's a very cool environment and a neat local business worth supporting!

Expensive and lukewarm coffee. I don't really care if the barista makes a hip design in the foam of my mocha, I just want a warm flavorful drink served in a timely manor that is reasonably priced. I must be crazy because I feel like I'm the only one in Bozeman with this opinion.
Somehow the coffee bar fanboys of this town have made this into a popular place with great reviews. In my opinion it is anything but.

I gave this place four tries and I have yet to receive a good mocha out of them. The one time I got a flavorful one it was lukewarm at best, I'd say maybe 120 degrees. After google searching it turns out 'latte art' is done best when the milk isn't as warm as a normal mocha should be. Wow, quit wasting your time making 'art' and give me a actual warm mocha. The 'art' is literally gone after the first sip or when you put a lid on it. I don't get how a place that makes substandard coffee, but draws a stupid leaf in the foam has gotten so popular.

My wife and I each get a 16 oz mocha or latte. The total is $9.00. Okay, a dollar or two more than normal, no big deal. We pay with a card and have the option to tip 15%, 20% or no tip. Really? You won't let me tip a dollar like I've been doing for years. $1.35 is pretty outrageous for already over priced coffee.

I'm pretty sure this review will be removed since they are more than likely using their profits from overpriced coffee to maintain their 'image'. Only reason I gave it a two star is it didn't make me sick and the place was clean and the ambiance was decent.

Best coffee in town, the atmosphere is amazing, friendliest staff!

We love the atmosphere of this coffee shop. Its perfect for studying or doing work any time of day. During the summer, its very quiet and peaceful. They even have live music some nights.

Absolutely love the coffee and the staff here. They actually take their time on the coffee so I VERY rarely get a burnt shot. (So I consistently trust them making my favorite drink being a 16oz quad-shot mocha.) The staff are very valuing as well. They may not be shouting a generic greeting when you walk in the door but they way they actually are willing to have a conversation is much more meaningful to me anyhow. Their chicken pesto panini is also very good if you're hungry haha.
Overall, my favorite coffee shop in Bozeman. I go here often to study or to simply enjoy some good coffee! :-)

Don't go here if you want authentic coffee. They serve milkshakes if you order a frappe, and when approached about this, staff is trained to say that's the definition of a frappe, and then adding anything coffee to your frappe will cost extra. They are also trained to say mocha means chocolate, not chocolate AND coffee. Finally, if you want to order any odd number of espresso shots they will tell you they can't physically pour one,three, or five shots,they can only pour in multiples of two and cannot separate them: every other coffee place in Bozeman is capable of serving odd numbers of shots if asked and will gladly do so. Coldsmoke has created too many misconceptions both for their staff and costumers when it comes to serving coffee.

Great spot top get a few hours of work done

While I am normally a lover of this establishment, my experience tonight was horrid.

My friend and I arrived around 730pm to grab a bite and get some of our work done. From the very beginning, the young girl working behind the counter seemed very uninterested in our presence. She was busy gabbing with her friend as we stood in front of the register hoping she'd eventually take our order. Once she finally took our order, there wasn't a lick of kindness in her demeanor.

We found a booth at the very back of the restaurant while we waited for our two drinks and sandwich. The first drink was up and we heard our name called. About a half hour later, we still hadn't seen the rest of our order.

I walked up to check on it to find the pesto chicken panini partially burnt, getting cold and lacking chicken. The iced coffee was still missing in action and the girl was still gabbing with her friends.

As a person who used to work in a restaurant setting, I understand customer service to the T and understand that things get busy sometimes. Tonight was NOT busy at all. There were no customers ahead of us. The facility was very quiet. The girl was rude and didn't bother to attempt to locate us or call our name again before the food became cold.

She was a tall thin girl with shoulder-length, curled, blonde hair. I imagine she was late teens to mid 20s in age. This girl should NOT be allowed to work in a customer-oriented environment and needs a serious talking to.

Great place to meet up for coffee and meeting a friend. Plenty of space.

Just an average atmosphere.... I didn't feel like there was a lot of energy that usually comes from my favorite type of coffee places. Very clean though, and an incredibly polite and friendly staff.
