Red Barn Cafe

Moved to mt. Vernon over last summer and decided to try this place out...I was blown away...the food was phenomenal to say the least... and the prices were fantastic as well. Then they closed down for what we thought was 2 weeks... turned out to be a month. We decided to eat there after they reopened... looked like it had been painted... but what made this place great is now lacking. The tables before the remodel all had listings for local businesses and advertisement.. the had a delicious buffet small but very quaint and a awesome salad and soup bar... all very delicious.
Now all the local advertisement has been removed along with the buffet and salad and soup bars... the food is of lesser quality and the place is almost a ghost town now when it used to be packed all the time. It won't be long until the doors are closed. I don't understand taking a great thing and turning it into nothing special.. Will not be returning.

First time here and very glad we choose to have lunch here! Traveling thru and wanted to help local businesses. The service was wonderful and the food is excellent!! Great portion sizes and even greater prices! Definitely recommend! Keep up the great work!

Traveling through from AZ to NY and this is the first place that we truly enjoy. LOVE the dinner rolls absolutely must try. Fried cat fish amazing. I am very critical when it come to food including my own. We tried the buffet which was really good because most of the things are made from scratch and not in mass quantities. So they were able to keep the flavor of the food.

We had a large group. We had a reservation months in advance but called ahead and the staff had no idea we were coming. Getting all of us fed at the same time during a lunch rush was hard on the waitress and cook staff. But everything was AMAZING!!

Best place around for a home style meal! I always look forward to eating there when I'm in town.

On our way home to Oklahoma kids were hungry and doing a search of nearby places we decided to take a chance. Are we ever glad we did!! The food was amazing and very reasonably priced, the staff was wonderful and made us feel welcome and like we were at a friend's house having dinner! The portions are huge so you definitely get your $$s worth here! We noticed the pies and other desserts and decided to get them to go to have when we got home. Omg the pies are amazing!!!! You will not be disappointed!!

OMG all I can say so much food not sure other reviewers say it’s pricey for what you get, I 100% disagree I had the the original skillet your choice of Biscuits and gravy pancake or toast. All I can say is I’ll be back when I’m through this town again.

I took my 97 year old father here for lunch. They were so considerate about the wheelchair and oxygen and made us feel welcome. The food was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. Spoiler alert: when you walk in the door there is a display of the most awesome desserts you can imagine. I got a huge cinnamon roll to take home. The best I've ever had. Will go there again as often as possible.

We ate dinner there with my family! The food was delicious and fresh! However, our service was not great! It took our server 15 minutes to come back and take our order and that was after I had to go find her. When she came back to the table she told us she forgot about us! Would have been 5 Stars if it wasn't for the service!
