Nice local coffee space that’s actually on a little strip of come cool stores. They are not shy with flavors and you shouldn’t be shy with trying them! So good! The barista was so kind and held great conversation! The store itself was clean and smelled fresh— which makes it a more comfortable dining experience.

Someone told my better half about this place, so we went to check it out. I was really pleased with everything!! I asked for suggestions on a coffee, and the barista suggested something. I told her that would be fine. Then I picked the Verde Chicken off the menu. The coffee was amazing! I wish I could remember the name of it. I will attach a picture, because it was really pretty. I even got a second one to go! The Verde chicken was really good! It was not very spicy, and had great flavor! The mango chutney made it hit different areas of the palate and was very enjoyable! When I went to order my second coffee to go, I stood at the counter and visited with the barista for a minute and learned a little about the place. Then the owner delivered my coffee and told us thank you for coming in. We will 100% be going back. Also, they have a little sliding window, and give a pup cup to people with their dogs! We saw a dog get one, and he was dancing as they handed it out the window! So cute!

1st time customer! Love Love Loved it! Great atmosphere and asthetics. It has a real homey vibe. The owners Mike and Armando are Amazing! Were very nice and well kept place. They will welcome you with open arms. There is also a Kanbe's Market cooler at this location. So while you're getting your coffee or made to order food, stop by and pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables as well. I will be returning!

Ordered Hot Horcata with Oat milk & Tamale $10. Chill place to hang. Hippie rep was friendly. Vivid colors and Relaxing music played. Everything was good.

Yep, this place right here. Seems we always find these smooth little joints that have been here in Kansas City but we've yet to encounter them. Such is Anchor Island Coffee. If you blink your eye you may pass by without seeing it as you cruise down Troost. It's on the East side of Troost at the exact corner of 41st Street.
Now let's get into it. He gets drip and dashes. I get tea and a tamale and stay. The shop is quaint in size and accommodates about 16 folks comfortably. Love that coziness. The music is a beautiful array of Latin artists that invite you to dance, shimmy or something. The Christmas music is fabulous!!!
The pork tamale I had was insanely great as evidenced by the bite taken before the picture. Oops. It was so tender and seasoned perfectly. The masa was exquisite, fluffy and the filling had a good ratio, flavorful and cooked to perfection. I hate that I didn't have more than 1. I wonder if they offer special pricing for a half dozen or so to go? 🤔 Thank you to the Kitchen for a beautiful tamale that I really loved. Chicken next time.
We enjoyed the Barista who is so very kind and accommodating! The way he took charge to suggest the proper Black tea for me was what I needed. We shall return especially on a weekday. They actually rotate coffee roasters from around our city so you can come here and experience the absolute BEST of Kansas City roasters!!!!!!! Are you kidding me?! That's a bonus that will make us return over and over and over....
Thanks for a great day!

Impressive local coffee and food shop on Troost! My daughter heard about it on Instagram through #coffeekansascity. We drove from Lees Summit just to try it. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect but it was fantastic! Local coffee--I had Messenger black coffee and got the beans for home, too. They have different local beans for home brewing. Daughter had their blueberry latte with oat milk, which she loved. We split a delicious freshly-made egg breakfast burrito sans chorizo, and a yummy almond danish. There is a selection of fresh fruits and veggies, along with alt milks to take home. Employees were helpful and the owner was friendly and present. The whole shop was clean and adorable. We recommend this place and we'll definitely be back!

A MUST GO TO!!! This uniquely themed Coffee Shop is Top Shelf! The Service & Staff are FIRE 🔥! Very attentive, kind & accommodating. The atmosphere is inviting, peaceful & comfortable. One can easily sit & peruse the local art work or read a great book! The products are superb quality. The Dirty Sunrise is an awesome eclectic treat!!

This place is a treasure! Staff is super friendly but there's also a self-order kiosk if you're having one of those "human interaction is overwhelming" days. I always get the blueberry iced latte (with an extra shot) and the vegan breakfast burrito (add chicken) and I've been happy every single time. Everything is fresh and prepared with care.

This is such a fun coffee shop. The food is delicious. They have a great acai bowl. The tamales are really yummy. You need to try the grilled cheese with an egg. It's really good. The blueberry latte is fantastic.
