This long time gem of Roseau was satisfactory but leaving much to be desired on my visit. I arrived in the morning to enjoy their breakfast options and was met with the most robust cup of coffee, a true delight! I however waited quite a while to order and much longer to get my food. Upon getting my french toast and bacon I was disappointed to find the toast itself was luke-warm and the butter provided wouldn't melt. The bacon was the least satisfying part of the meal, the texture was that of crackers and the meat itself tasted very charred almost masking the flavor of the bacon. I spent a minimum of 40 minutes there. The wait staff was kind, thoughtful and helpful. The busboy was very kind and even got a chuckle or two out of me. The price I paid was reasonable as well. Overall I would recommend Nelson's Cafe for your next trip to Roseau, the ambiance of the small town cafe is so enchanting, provided that is, you're not in a hurry.

Fantastic. Family owned home cooking. Never disappoints! They don't accept credit cards but cash or local checks are just fine. Tuesday is potato dumpling day!
Edit update... They do now accept credit cards. New owners. Takes considerably longer to get your meal. I've removed 2 stars. We waited well over an hour for our meal.

Great little Cafe! Staff was very personable and accommodating. Only complaint was that the stuffing was overcooked.

Very poor service. Waited 45 minutes for omelette and hash browns when not busy at all. Toast was very cold. No one came around to ask how we were doing or even stopped to refill coffee. Waitress was to busy eating to serve her customers. Very disappointed after loving this place when Larry owned and operated it.
Won’t be back

We waited over an hour for our food. In the meantime both cooks went out for breaks while the restaurant was getting slammed.
We watched two tables walk out because of how long things were taking. Wait staff didn't know the answers to basic questions about the menu (are fries included, are the potatoes real or instant, soup of day & what comes with the special). If the food was good, it would have made up for the wait. Unfortunately our food was very overcooked, dry, and salty and one order came out a good 10 minutes before the second. I would not recommend this place.

This is a little unpretentious gem in Roseau. I had the Cod dinner. It came with three large finger pieces of delicious Fried Cod. Two scoops of mashed potatoes and corn , a double roll with butter! My husband had the Denver sandwich with 1/2 order of fries. Great friendly atmosphere and service. Would recommend this mom and pop restaurant. They only take cash. I feel like I’m back in the 1970’s. Love this place. Very reasonable prices and great selection as well. They close at 2 pm, so hurry on over!!

Great food and friendly service - we're going back for lunch tomorrow because we learned desserts are made in house.
