Great food, huge portions, great staff, good prices.

Delicious inexpensive comfort food, extremely friendly and fast staff, small town goodness. Plus, they have Coke! Their coffee is excellent too. No credit cards but they have a cash machine.

French Toast had no taste. Bacon was burned. Heater hanging from the center of the room had major dust coverage. Random t-shirts hanging around for sale bragging up their bacon.
Server was great. No credit card accepted. Atmosphere of the building is very disconnected.

Food was pretty good. My oldest kid thinks she is the food critic from Ratatouille and she liked the food as well. The waitress was also very nice

Really good food at a really good price. Super fast about five minutes wait for food, and the waitress was very friendly. Found our new breakfast spot.

Friendly and fast service. If you like small town Cafe's, you'll love this place. Come hungry. Large portions at low prices. Cash or checks only; no debit/credit cards.

A true treasure for visitors. Nicolls Cafe located in Pine City, MN., is remarkable find in a small city near Hinkley. Travelers who know Tobie's also know it is an oasis between Minneapolis and Duluth. It is on the beaten path. Here enters Nicolls. Off the beaten path and authentic. A family run Cafe serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I have enjoyed the hamburger, eggs, toast and hash brown potatoes. The 3 egg Denver omelet and the most wonderful 1/2 chicken dinner. The waitresses are above and beyond, their service tailored to you. Food prep and cooking are down home including biscuits and gravey. Liz and I found Nicolls Cafe by accident. We had gone to Pine City looking for a restaurant we did not find. We turned around and went to Nicolls. Our true fortune. Liz travels out to the west coast every other week departing and arriving at the Minneapolis St Paul International Airport. We now leave the airport when she returns and make a beeline to Nicolls for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner depending on our desire. You owe it to yourself to stop in at Nicolls to experience great food, service, and camaraderie. No Tuxedo or Evening Gown needed. Just relaxed attire for a relaxed time. If you're an old hippie with longish hair and a beard, Chakra beads, leather bracelet, metal bracelet (no not handcuffs, geez) and watch you might stand out. Who me? well yes but all are welcome and treated like family. Please take the time to stop at Nicolls and enjoy life and a meal away from the madness of the world, decompress, and savor. Liz and I did. We regret we did not look for Nicolls earlier.

This restaurant is not particularly attractive, but they make a delicious breakfast. Their home-made oatmeal raisin toast is outstanding. (We always buy a loaf to bring home.) Plus their fried eggs are always perfect, and despite what a previous person said about the Sysco truck, their bacon tastes farm cured --- very delicious! It's our twice a year bacon treat. We have had breakfasts at most of the restaurants down the North Shore and none does it as well as the Nicolls Cafe. It's a long wait from Lutsen, but always worth it. Coffee is very normal diner coffee --- but the rest is excellent! Also, very pleasant waitresses.

This is a small town cafe and is exactly what you would expect from one. The prices are great, the food is delicious (we had breakfast), and the service friendly. It was the Friday of MEA so there were a few more kids than they probably get during the school year. None of them were misbehaving, but just being kids. No one minded. I'm not from Pine City, but you knew who the regulars were because everyone seemed to know each other.

The only drawback, and the reason I gave them four stars instead of five, is they only accept cash or check, no debit or credit cards.
