Great variety of coffees and other beverages. Coffee costs more than your average cup, but proceeds go to help support people in Nicaragua. I like that they have several kinds of chocolate available for purchase. Will Be back again!

Recreo Coffee was my favorite place for meeting friends prior to COVID, especially the back patio, quiet and romantic.

But my first post COVID trip yesterday was a let down with their sanitary practice. They had tight counter dividers and everyone wore masks which were very good. But cashier who took my credit card, likely cash too from other customers, went to get pastry with the same gloved hands. When I questioned why not using tongs, her reply was that she used paper to grab pastry, but her thumb was on the side of paper that food was on. She offered to use tongs to give me another one, but out of habit, she used that same gloved hand into the paper bag to expand the bag. At this point, it was obvious that she did not understand the COVID compliance to protect the customers, she was just going her usual pre-COVID motion. Eventually she transferred pastry to me by napkins.

I felt bad for putting her on the spot, but there was no way I would take a piece of pastry from the same gloved hands that touched money. She was polite and trying but simply had no comprehensive knowledge of how to do it the COVID compliant way. I think their manager /owner needs to take the responsibility to train staff to walk through every step to keep cold food clean, to give customers confidence. Wearing the same gloves touching everything is not protecting customers nor themselves.

It will be a long time before I would go back again.

Thank you Miriam for your reply. I will go again

And so accommodating, we sat outside with our dog and had a wonderful lunch. True Southern charm and hospitality -- it's the real deal... not some homogenized chain or HGT V fake, quirky Southern diner

This is my favorite coffee shop for two reasons 1. They are so kind, especially the owners 2. The mission. Buying a cup of coffee directly and POSITIVELY impacts a community in Nicaragua. Fair trade at its best: direct and local

Delicious coffee, adorable patio, and the nicest owners. Portion of sales benefit schools in Nicaragua

The very BEST coffee I have ever tasted. I bring it with me when I travel. I sent a bag to a friend Australia! The owners and staff are lovely people, very friendly and ready to answer your questions. Their Patio is magic!

Tim and Edan (Ethan?), thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to chat with me like a human. You didn't know I was having a really bad day, but you made it so much better. And your coffee rocks. Thank you again! Much love, be safe.

So happy to have finally stopped in here! Coffee is great, but more importantly it's a family operation. Beans are sourced directly from a family farm. Cozy outdoor seating behind the shop if you head out the door and take a right, then another right down the alley.

Recreo is amazing. Such a cool idea and they do the cafe right as well. Nice patio and currently very conscious about social distancing and mask wearing. Not afraid to enforce their rule of 3 ppl in the store at a time, which is appreciated.

Always great coffee and tea here. Excellent choices, quick staff and yummy pastries. The line out the door is daunting, but moves fast.
