I have been going to Jefferson Island Cafe for the last 20 years. It is my favorite place around this area. That being said I have never been treated as badly by any waitress/waiter anywhere. She was very rude and made it clear she was the only one working inside. The green haired lady behind the bar was ugly with me because I went in to get two menus. Because she was angry with us they served everyone (that came after us) their food first. All we ordered was each a hot dog and had to wait over an hour. Everyone was served bread except my table. I must say the tables around us noticed how rude they were.
It is not the customers fault that Jefferson Island did not have enough staff.

Great place to eat! We enjoy the peaceful scenery while eating off the lake. Food is excellent with great customer service! I was even told that they use as many local produce as they can! What a great place to support our local economy. I always look forward to eating there.

It was a nice day to sit outside and the food and service was awesome! And the peacocks were beautiful..

Beautiful location with some of the best food we had on our trip! Crab at gratin was so good (and so rich, I was glad for the salad I had with it).

We enjoyed walking the grounds after our meal was done! Highly recommend.

Not cheap but excellent food. The mufaletta is particularly good. Overlooks Lake Pigneur and the chimney in the lake. Look up Lake Pigneur disaster for a fascinating story. On the grounds of historic Jefferson Island salt dome and Rip Van Winkle Gardens. It is an excellent tour destination.

The good was fresh and perfect! They pick the greens from their own garden every morning. The lasagna was the best I've ever had, the eggplant Diane was amazing and the gumbo was perfect! Service was a little slow, because they were very busy, but she was delightful to work with.
