Stumbled across this gem while exploring the area around Mammoth cave. I was charmed by the old building and decided to eat an early lunch here with the fam before hiking the caves. We all ordered cheesburgers and fries/onion rings and drinks and it cost less than a fast food joint. It was a nice homey atmosphere, great service and a great homemade burger. My kiddos say it was even better than Grandmas so that means 11/10 would recomended. Sadly, I didn't notice the sign that said they had fried green tomatoes until I was on the way out, might have to drive the 4 hours to come back and try them ;) If we find ourselves in the area again we will definitely come back by.
Love this place. My wife and I love to bring our son here in the morning. It's never too busy, food is great, service is great, and the people are great. You really can't ask for a better diner experience.
Friendly, fast service and our entire family enjoyed our meals after visiting Hidden River Cave. Our picky kids said the chicken tenders, fries, tots and mac’n cheese were all cooked perfectly. Husband enjoyed his club sandwich. Grandma and I each had a delicious bowl of beans and fresh-tasting slaw. Very inexpensive.
My son and I stopped in here after touring the Hidden River Cave. My son gave the grilled cheese 5 stars and said it was the best he’d ever had! The staff was great and so welcoming! You can tell there’s a lot of love for this little place and the town! I would love to try the breakfast if we’re passing through here again!
Not another soul in the place, but every table was dirty! No greeting when we entered, had to ask if it was ok to seat ourselves. After the third attempt at finding a spot of clean on the tables to eat, I asked the waitress if she could clean the table we were at, and her response was”I was going to wipe it, but you all moved around a bit”! What? Unprofessional and rude. My husband put his hand down on the table, and received unbecoming substances on his hand. No apologies from the snarky waitress. Apparently don’t need our business, or anyone else’s! Will not return to this city, as we received a similar response from a dining establishment down the road last night. They wouldn’t let us order carry out, stating they were too busy and to call back in an hour! 😂
The place itself was ok. Atmosphere relatively friendly. The waitress was working herself to death. Price was great... Coffee was really good Some of the food we ordered well not so great. We had to wait Abt 35 mins for our order. The hamburger and fries were ok , not many could go wrong with that. My problem was the Gravy my Gr. Daughter ordered. It was a white gravy which was expected. The issue here and also with another place here in Horse Cave, so they are not alone. Is that the rue is not cooked it is basically raw. You can taste the shortening they use as well as the consistency is slimy. With out cooking you are eating a paste or glue. It tasted so bad my granddaughter could not eat it. She eats everything. Would I go back sure, just wouldn't ever order the gravy. They really do need to cook the rue more. Would make a big difference.

Charming local cafe with great food and low prices. Clean the bathroom and you'll get that fifth star.

Very inexpensive menu. The food was excellent, as good as Cracker Barrel’s for a much lower price. The entire place could use a good cleaning though.

Simply great home style cooking. Skip the franchise and eat here. Better food, better prices.

The food was really good, and the server was nice. It needed a little cleaning, but it was still really good!
