I came in to buy fresh bread at 630 am. The woman who helped me was super nice and very informative. They dont slice the bread until 8 am so I bought an uncut loaf. If was hot when I got it and the woman showed me how to keep my bread from getting soggy. I used it to make a sandwich later. Really good. Better than the grocery store. They also had many other treats and sandwiches. Everything looked delicious.

We stop here every morning we are in Spencer . This morning we had some Danish pastries and coffee. The pastries were great and so was the coffee. I would stop here just for the cappucino coffee. On the way out, we picked up a dozen assorted cookies and a loaf of cinnamon rolls. If you appreciate a real old-time independent bakery, be sure and stop here some morning. The owners are wonderful too!

Friendly, fast delivery, great prices
I can't speak to the flavor of their doughnuts, as I placed the order from Washington State. Maybe someone from the County Records office will post a review about that…
…or not. UPDATE: the recipients say they will go back for more! Excellent flavor, they report. So, definitely Five Stars:)

My husband has your donuts as his favorite food group. Always puts a smile on his face. Not only the donuts but the charming staff

Great place to meet your friends or family and have a sweet treat. Their o'boys are a must to try if you have not already tried them. We always stop at Carroll's Bakery when we visit Spencer, IA. The owners are super nice and helpful.

Carroll's Bakery is one of the quintessential stops in Spencer, and one I've enjoyed for years! They take their time each and every day to make top-notch foods, both savory and sweet. From what I can tell, they make limited batches of their pastries daily. Their attention to quality over quantity makes for some of the tastiest pastries you'll find in the Midwest, but get there early so you don't miss out! Donuts, cream horns, and their legendary butterdeij are worth getting every single time. Flaky, crispy, and buttery outside, sweet and consistent (without being overly heavy) inside. Their coffee selection is great, also fresh-made and delicious! If you're in the area, Carroll's is worth the stop.
