Tru Coffee

The environment is so welcoming and the staff are so kind! I only had an iowa city gift card with me, and when it didn't work to pay for my drink, they gave it to me on the house. It was my first time trying a matcha latte and it was delicious! I will definitely be back (with actual money) to buy more!

Love this place! The space is fantastic and the coffee is good! Really appreciate all of the natural light, as well as being open till the later afternoon! Also, loved the volume of the music! I could hear it the whole time, but I also brought in my sleeping 8 month old and he did not even stir!

That is the space, as far as the coffee goes I really appreciated the mugs "for here", the Mahlkonig grinder, and the Synesso espresso machine! They are staying Tru to the specialty coffee scene! Keep it up!

Best cappuccinos in town. (A Slayer machine! 😍) I don't know the story behind the empty pastry case, but I hope they will get a good pastry supplier.

The metal chairs aren't particularly comfortable for long term sitting, but the option of standing at the taller tables by the windows is there. The music is...depending on who's working as far as I can tell. The wifi speed has been great so far.

Their toaster or toaster oven appeared to be uneven? One time both my wife and I ordered bagel with cream cheese, and one of our bagels was very nicely toasted while the other was barely toasted. A very generous amount of cream cheese though!

Absolutely FABULOUS.. Met and chatted with Tucker. He is Wonderful and engaging and let's his light shine!!! Beautiful light mint green Aura around him.

Their lavender syrup is the absolute best flavor of anything ever! It's not too flowery, more sage-y, if that makes sense. So calming. Plus the people are cool and so is the thrift part. Glad to have the option for oat or almond milk.

I stopped in for a flea market event, so I don't know what the food or service was like. Nice decor but it was packed with people.

Such an awesome coffee shop! The staff is friendly, the café is super clean, and the espresso is incredible. They don't charge extra for plant based milks and have vegan options. I haven't seen another café downtown that doesn't charge extra for plant based milk so this is for sure my new go-to place.

I am a friend of the owners, so I can personally say this is an amazing family business. The owners themselves have had personal experience in the coffee industry. They are experts at making coffee and cultivating an amazing guest experience. I am so excited for the launch of this establishment, Tru. Named after a marvelous woman, whom I’m sure would’ve been extremely proud to witness the success of this coffee shop!

The coffee here is incredible and some of the best in town. The shop itself was so cozy and inviting with very nice staff. The only downside was I paid $5.75 for a 12oz latte making it some of the most expensive coffee I’ve had.
