This was my first time at Comeback Cafe. It was not busy when I came as it was about 2 PM, so if there was a lunch crowd, I successfully missed it. The service was fast and friendly and food was good. The only reason I did not go for 5 stars was the cost was just a tad high for the low quantity of food (specifically meat on salad), but the quality was very good. Lots of neat historical photos of Grinnell on the wall to look at too!
Exceptionally good food and service. We went twice during the week of our daughter's graduation and both times the place was packed and the staff was very attentive and friendly. Large, stone windows letting in natural light are the backbone of a beautiful atmosphere. Grinnell is very lucky to have this charming Cafe.
Very pricey for what you get. The $10 salad was a handful of iceberg lettuce, 3 pieces of chicken and a few slices of apples. Very disappointing. Left hungry which defeats the purpose of dining out.
Ordered crispy sesame chicken salad. It had about 1 cup of iceberg lettuce , only 4 pieces of chicken, a few pieces of pineapple and hardly any chowmein noodles. Definitely not worth their price of $10.95! It was nothing special.
Lovely Little cafe right down town. Small, cozy, limited seating. Good menu with offerings of half or whole sandwich with soup, try the warm rice pudding. It's made from scratch and delicious.
There is construction outside, but don't miss this great cafe to grab a wrap, salad, tasty drink or delicious dessert! My absolute favorite is the Bangkok Chicken wrap... pineapple, grilled chicken, chow main noodles, candied pecans and a delicious dressing. Mmmmm. Very reasonably priced. Save room for dessert! Today's special dessert was blueberry cheesecake ice-cream... soooo good! The pic is from their facebook page.
the guy who was working behind the counter was VERY rude. i’m normally very patient with workers, especially since i work in a restaurant myself, but he made me feel uncomfortable, unwelcomed, and stupid. he didn’t greet me when i walked in, didn’t ask what i wanted, and was snarky. also, it smells like manure in the building. it’s probably because they’re doing construction, so i assume it’s not normally like this, but either way it’s gross. however, the food and drink was really good. i ordered the “love bug” latte with oatmilk and a scone. both were very tasty. food and drink came out quickly.
I love the daily panini specials, ice cream sundaes, and WARM rice pudding. Friendly staff make this a place worth visiting several times each week for lunch!

Stopped in for a small bite to eat while on the road.
The Big Dill Panini was surprisingly good and flavorful and just light enough to hold us over.
The Warm Rice Pudding was also good and small enough to not be to too much, if that makes sense.
I can see why they call it the Comeback Cafe because we would definitely comeback if we pass through again.

One of my favorite spots for lunch in Grinnell. Their wraps are fantastic, and you can't go wrong with a lotus energizer either.
