Fantastic gem of Bloomington. Friendly, interesting, creative, easy. Great cup of coffee too.
I ordered dark chocolate with a double shot and it was the best coffee I’ve had in Indiana

This place has that ‘gather around friends and chat’ vibe and a cozy feeling to it!
The people at work were really warm and nice too!
A thing to try, “Top of The Mornin’” hot coffee!! One of the best coffee that I’ve ever tasted, and this comes from a coffee lover!! ☕️

I've had coffee at many different places, but I must say that the coffee at Soma Coffeehouse was the very best I have ever had!!! Not only was the atmosphere funky and fun, but the baristas were extremely talented and knowledgeable about coffee.

I’d say this is the best place in town to study. Nice little hole in the wall that feels like it’s underground. The staff is always great, they have some of the best speciality coffees in town; they don’t just copy and paste what Starbucks has. What I really enjoy is that they have two rooms— the front is where you come in and just talk, drink some coffee and leave, while the slightly bigger back room is usually a bit quieter and is always filled with people studying. There isn’t a sign saying so, it’s like an assumed unspoken rule. If you’re into records, there’s actually a hidden store in the very back— TDs CDs and LPs which is a good size selection of, well, what they say! One thing though, this isn’t to be confused with the other locations, this one’s the one to visit—the other two are completely different. While they have the same drinks, the vibe is much closer to Starbucks, having just one big room, louder, and the Jordan Square one even limits your wifi use. It’s a great experience, you just have to come see for yourself.

Nice, cute, warm energy. Just do not get matcha, tastes like water, and you'll be good. Every other drink I've tried has been fabulous.

I appreciate a coffee house that gets creative with its menu, and Soma has a great list of specialty drinks to compliment the standard coffee options. Bonus: Lots of their coffees are fair trade and juices are all organic. It looks like customers are welcome to get cozy and hang out, but the interior is very dark. So if that’s not your thing, there’s plenty of outdoor seating with cafe tables and picnic benches.

I used to come here all the time when I lived near Bloomington and I loved the vibe. I was in the area (ie 3 hours away and made the extra drive haha) so I stopped by yesterday and this morning and the coffee is still amazing.
The staff were all super friendly and answered all my questions. My friend ordered a single shot of espresso on ice and they offered to give him an extra shot for free which I thought was nice.
They've taking good health safety precautions by removing all the tables and seating inside and leaving hand sanitizer by the front door. They do have tables outside and have signs indicating whether they've been sanitized between customers which I thought was really nice.
They do request that customers wear masks inside but they didn't turn away customers that weren't wearing masks.
I'm so sad I live so far away from soma but I will definitely make an effort to stop by any time I'm nearby.

They forgot about my latte, & I bought four goods (chai walnut, peanut butter brownie, & two zucchini breads) - everything had a BAD & weird taste. It was all absolutely awful, the baked goods & coffee was stale & weird flavor. The (presumably) stoned employees weren’t even apologetic when they realized they had forgotten about my drink. My friend (who had ordered after me) got her latte before me & I stood around waiting for mine & I ended up having to request mine which they stood around saying “uhhhhhh” about for way too long & they were pretentious & unapologetic when they realized they had forgotten about me. Yes I tipped them, in cash. Do better Bloomington. I don’t often leave reviews but I am APPALLED.

Cozy little basement coffee shop with a quiet room in the back to plug up your laptop and charge your phone while you study or read. The the espresso drinks are good, but the flavor of the coffee was better years ago, so something has changed. As I stated the coffee is still good. Some of the baristas put more care, into your drink than others. Overall a refreshing break from corporate Starbucks. Between me and you, they must do something about that bathroom, but it is functional.

Epitome of Bloomington charm/weirdness. Good for them for being over the top bold in decorating. Pretty good chocolate cream cheese muffin. In a basement with low ceiling, uncomfortable for tall guys, and bathroom is even more so. Shares building with a record store and Laughing Planet-- enjoy coffee and a burrito at the same time.
