Been going here for coffee and pastries for months, and at this point I think I've cycled through all of their pastry and latte options. While the flavors, decorations, and techniques change from menu item to menu item, everything I've ordered has been unique, fresh, and delicious. Val, Alex, Leila, and the rest of the Loba crew make each visit memorable and friendly - there's no better neighborhood coffee shop and us in Roscoe Village are lucky to have them. When you're in the area, be sure to stop by and get one of their flavored lattes and pastries - you won't be disappointed!
Val makes absolutely fantastic pastries! Fresh every day, no set menu, just what she decides to make that day. There is usually a savory pastry of some kind, and something gluten free. All of them delicious! Coffee is great too, but its Val's baking that will keep me going there.
I got the wolf spice and it was delicious. A good balance between sweetness and espresso. Perfect for someone who likes coffee and has a sweet tooth. I would come back again to try the Kyoto cold brew. The one on the left is the Arcadian, which has a thicker consistency than a regular latte.
Well definitely better than any chain, love the creative drinks and pastries, although different still good. I will definitely keep this in my rotation of coffee shops
Cute place and nice staff. Matcha latte with soy was nice, but the pastries failed to impress me. The pineapple muffin was okay, but the monkey bread was way too sweet and sticky.
The owner is such a passionate and amazing person amd they make absolutely mind-blowing sweet and savory pastries, vegan and gf options usually available but ya gotta get there early cuz it all just FLIES. there's a damn good reason for that ;)
BEST PASTRIES: Loba has the best pastries I’ve had at a coffee shop anywhere in town. Also the owner’s passionate and knowledgeable when it comes to all things coffee. Gem.
I waltzed in and ordered an iced mocha latte without really reading the menu, because that’s my tradition for trying a new coffee place. The barista was confused and I realized it wasn’t on the menu, so I just asked if they had chocolate syrup and he explained they only have the syrup for their four specialty drinks (it looked like they make the syrup themselves but I’m not sure). He was happy to recommend the speciality latte most similar to what I had asked for and though it was a little spicy it was really good! This place is definitely different than other Chicago coffee shops but it’s a nice place with patient staff.
Fantastic coffee and some of the most unique pastries in Chicago. I come here way too often. Val and her team are amazing! Love this place and it’s very different vibe. Just a few steps away from the brown line el stop at Roscoe.
