Jackson Avenue Coffee, or "The JAC" as it's known, is the quintessential local coffee shop. A small staff means you might have a little wait for your drink, but they are also very knowledgeable about their offerings and are happy to make recommendations. Everything is delicious, from the fancy drinks to the simple fare. There's always something going on in the back room of an evening, but there are plenty of hours for quiet study, group project meetings, or catching up with a friend.

Small, friendly place. VERY tasty cookies. Very good tea. Nice and quiet. One 16 oz. tea, 2 16oz coffees, 2 cookies, under$20.00. I will be back for sure!

Best chai tea I've ever had, both hot and iced - I'd opt for the hot if I were you though because he loads you up on the ice even if you tell him to go easy. Still some damn good chai though.

Jackson Avenue Coffee is a staple in the Charleston community. I've been a patron for 17 years now, and I have to say that I've been in the love the entire time. Great coffee, great baristas, and local art.

This guy has a good selection of year round espresso drinks (hot& cold) and seasonal stuff. I stick mostly to coffee, iced coffees and Americanos. They tend to pull the espresso a little longer than the chain across town which makes them a bit more potent.

I received the most unwelcomed welcome ever at this place yesterday. Ten minutes after arriving ,5:30 PM, the barista finality asked me if I wanted anything. I may never do business there again and that's a shame, I've been going there since it's opening.

I really wasn't impressed. I ordered a coffee, and after paying, I was given an empty cup and directed across the room to a carafe containing luke warm marginal coffee. It doesn't smell very good inside either.

The coffee is good, but the open mic night with local bands is awesome. 5 mile train is a regular and well worth your time to go listen to.

Chill atmosphere, friendly staff and lots of yummy drink choices. Definitely recommend if you'd rather shop local than at a chain
