Brass Tacks Coffee Co. is an amazing hidden gem on the Southside! In a sea of chain restaurants, this local coffee shop is giving us something we were desperately missing on the Southside! Great coffee, cool vibes and delicious breakfast sandwiches and pastries. They also are a great community partner, volunteering and giving away coffee at several Jax library events. Everyone needs to support this awesome coffee shop!

Their waffles are so delicious! Husband approved of their coffee and I approve of their tea. The barista, I didn't catch her name but she was very helpful to us newcomers and she even knew how to make an iced london fog latte using their duchess grey tea for me. Amazing place, we are definitely coming back!

Really good coffee. Way better than Starbucks and cheaper too. Friendly staff. They also have food. I didn't try any but it looked and smelled good. Will go back again.

I really want to like this place. The food is good. The lavender sage tea is delicious. However, I have tried and failed to get a biscuit 5 times in a row. In fact, I have gone here 8 times, and only once was I able to order what I wanted without compromising for something else on the menu due to lack of supply. I can’t be the only person this has happened to. This seems like a silly business model.

I go to coffee shops to study and I was not able to do that comfortably here. The seating is all very hard and cold. The only tables near outlets are high tops with no backs on the seats. The seating outside was more comfortable but I had to come back inside because my laptop ran out of battery. I probably won't come back even to hang out because of the physically cold and uncomfortable environment (it's cold in here and the seats are all metal with no cushions).
The staff is very friendly and I appreciate the vegan options.

Been here many times, and without fail the milk is steamed too hot. I always have to wait at least 8-10 minutes before my latte is drinkable. Their locally roasted beans are delicious, but the milk is too hot. Will give 5 stars once my latte is steamed properly...

The service is always very welcoming.
The coffee is some of the best in town, and definitely the best in Southside. I love that it is roasted in the Jacksonville area.
The breakfast manages to both be traditional and creative. There are always pastries. And the tea is amazing.

I've been waiting for a local coffee spot on the Southside and this hits the spot. They have a drive-thru and are pretty fast. There is a steep drop leaving the drive thru so don't go fast.

The vibe is pretty good inside. Even though they just opened there have been plenty of people each time I've gone.

My go to drink has been an Iced Honey Vanilla Latte and its been great.

Definitely my go to Southside spot.

***Update: The business owner responded to my complaint and said they are working on displaying the prices. I appreciate they took the time to address my concern.
Their coffee is very flavorful, and the coffee shop has a modern, welcoming design.

***Update: I visited this place twice, and was charged different prices for the same beverage. The lesser price is from my last visit. See pic.***
Since this place is so close to my house, I decided to go in and see how their coffee taste. I perused their menu, and ordered a cortado with almond milk. It tasted pretty good, no complaints about that, but it cost me $3.75. The cortado is about half as much in quantity as a 12oz. latte. I usually pay that much for a latte. The red flag to me about this place is that they don’t have the prices displayed. They can charge whatever, whenever, to whomever. I don’t like this at all about any type of business. Do they charge different prices for different people? Not displaying prices clearly, is a bad business practice.

I am an avid coffee drinker so I decided to check this place out. Ordered a latte and it tasted pretty good but not the best I ever tasted. Tastes a bit burnt to me. However, came in the other day to check out their pastries. I ordered a different type of coffee plus a cinnamon pretzel. Found out that the cinnamon pretzel was $10 after she rung me up. That's a ridiculous price for a cinnamon pretzel. I understand this is somewhat a "high end" coffee shop but the pretzel was just mediocre. I think this is the reason why they don't put prices on their menus. They just surprise you after they ring you up! Props on the style of the place.
