This is a lovely little independent Coffee shop in Old Saybrook. Their coffee & food products are fantastic! I always get iced espresso drinks & they are delicious. Their pastries, sandwiches & baked good are also great quality & yummy. The staff are extremely nice, helpful, efficient & gracious. The ambiance is wonderfully relaxing: the interior is peaceful & welcoming. The exterior front patio with the cute 1950’s retro bistro table & chairs are equally as inviting. Definitely a wonderful little place for some coffee drinks & an informal breakfast, lunch or mid day break. Highly recommended!

This coffee shop is probably one of the best on the shoreline. Today I ordered an iced honey lavender latte, and my taste buds and brain activated in the best way… I felt my third eye open up. I can’t wait to go back and order another - 10/10

Cozy, excellent food, great coffee. Everything you want in a chill coffee house. Signature breakfast sandwich on home made biscuit. Walls lined with old encyclopedia’s. Great character.

Great food! Great coffee and hot chocolate and great service!

Absolutely my favorite place in the area for coffee/latte and breakfast to-go food
Pretty pricey, however the food is always consistently good. Every staff member we've interacted with has been very nice and pleasant. The Brooklyn Bagel is by far my favorite. The Lattes are also very delicious.
Atmosphere is pretty Down Home Hipster style, always clean, very welcoming.

I love this coffee shop. They find the most polite and wholesome kids to work here. Coffee is spectacular and the environment is peaceful. I really enjoy doing my work here. I also love that it's by the train station so it's always bustling with people coming and going. Don't waste your time and money going to Starbucks, you get better coffee and service at Ashlawn.

I just love this place. They have AMAZING coffee served by interesting people who really seem to care about the quality of a good cappuccino. The wait times are less then at certain other star chains that are only interested on your bucks. And the coffee tastes better too. Shop local. Shop small business and support your community. Their egg and biscuit sandwich is delicious too.

Not going to lie, I find the espresso either over-roasted or over-extracted. More carbon/charcoal than nuts/chocolate in terms of notes if that makes sense.

UPDATE: It has been much better the last few times I have visited!

However, the staff are so nice and it's in the perfect location so I find myself going back again and again!

I went here with my wife on a Saturday afternoon. It is a nice little shop with a comfortable feel. They sell various coffee brewing tools as well as mugs and growlers. We ordered a small latte and a medium cold brew. The cold brew was nice, better after I added milk. The latte was very hot and not very flavorful. They use beans that are roasted next door which is nice.

It's a Velasco Thing

This was a nice little coffee shop very homey. We actually stopped in while we were traveling around a few weeks ago. The coffee wasn't great but it wasn't horrible and the scone I had was really tasty and well made. It was a great place to stop in and get out of the rain and cold and just relax for a few before we headed back on the road.
