One of my favorite places to visit when I'm in Tahoe. Fallen Leaf Lake is one of the Jules of the Sierras... At the eastern side of the lake is the beginning of the Desolation Wilderness. Add it to your list of places to visit when in the Tahoe area...

Fallen Leaf Lake is a diamond waiting to be found. My family member has been visiting this location for 15 years and recommend we kayak here instead of Lake Tahoe as this smaller lake is less crowded and smooth as ice in the morning. The drive down from our Airbnb was gorgeous! They have a cafe with ice cream, fountain drinks and snacks. The lake is perfect for hiking, paddle boarding, water skiing, swimming. Dogs are allowed to swim as well. The price for a 2 person kayak for 1 hour is $35. The scenery was amazing from the lake. We saw beautiful homes on the lake side and trails I wouldn’t be able to see as I’m not a hiker. The waterfalls were not flowing this time of year so I will be returning.
Handicap parking is close to the store. There is no parking close to the lake.

The access is little hard and you should driving very carefully when you going there, but it worth it.

Very cute store and cafe, and a beautiful spot overlooking Fallen Leaf Lake. However, I would suggest not to drive out there unless you are renting a cabin or you live there. The road is not well suited for traffic... There are many areas of one lane only, and poor quality pavement. Help keep the peace and privacy by not driving out there for sightseeing .

We came on May 1st and the place is completely desolate but it is really beautiful. We drove around the lake and ended up near the chapel and falls. We stopped to play on the beach, no one was there so no one was enforcing a no dog policy. Had a blast playing in the water, beach and remainder of snow on the shore. Looking forward to coming back in the summer to check out the falls.

This place is such a charming, hidden gem. You will have a bumpy, windy, narrow road to drive (or bike ride) for a few miles to get here, but it's worth it. The feeling of a remote and secluded ambiance, and the views from the deck make this little old-school cafe/store worth checking out.

Glen Alpine Falls at Fallen Leaf Lake in South Lake Tahoe, my wife and I decided to visit these falls, and I am so happy with it, the drive up along with the Fallen Leaf Lake can be a bit slow, it's one lane with turn-offs but I think it was well worth it.

Store is closed. Restrooms are closed as of 10/16. But you need to park here to access the Fallen Leaf Lake. Calm and serene and so blue - worth the drive here.

Nice little place for souvenirs and a bite to eat or refreshing up before or after having fun at the lake or hiking in the area. Great location with a great view on the lake.
