If you are going to a coffee place for the coffee, then this is a place that you should not miss. The espresso drinks are consistently excellent, the baristas are knowledgeable and friendly (not "too cool" to be a bit nice to customers), and the beans rival the best ones I have gotten from other places such as Intelligentsia, for example. If you feel like treating yourself to a pastry or doughnut, those are excellent as well. They get their pastries from Opera (which is nearby) and their doughnuts from VG Doughnuts (which is located right next to the other Zumbar location and is superb). As other reviewers have mentioned, however, it is a small place with few tables and, to my knowledge, no power outlets. It might not be an ideal place to do work, but if you are able to grab a table - particularly outdoors - and have a decent battery in your laptop, then it's just fine.

This loud and bustling coffee shop / roastery is probably not the first place that comes to mind when you think about a good study spot, but that's part of the charm for me. While you study, you observe the workers lugging in huge sacks of coffee beans, you occasionally hear irritatingly loud grinding noises in the back of the store, all while enjoying one of the best coffees San Diego has to offer.

Very popular place - good coffee (with embedded fluid, dynamic artwork embedded in the cup pf coffee), friendly servers, very clean restroom. And just a stone's throw from the Sorrento Valley Coaster stop (which is otherwise an urban, metropolitan Ghost Town!)

Back to the basics, the roasts are on point with no added flavors and masking of the wonderful coffee character. All drinks are made with care, the pastries complement the drinks perfectly, and all the annoying distractions one gets from the big box coffee places are missing, creating a wonderful environment to actually enjoy the characters of the roasts.

Excellent coffee shop! Local roasting and great barista. It is right by the Sorrento Valley train station in a strip mall. I’d give it 5 stars if they had more seating and more food options.

High 3 stars or low 4 stars. Small coffeeshop and roaster. Inefficiently used space - four tables inside plus a short bar, and three tables and a bench outside. One outlet. Reasonably good atmosphere - metal tables but a fair bit of wood around. Small selection of high quality loose leaf teas. Chai lattes are only a little too sweet, but more gingery than I like. Small selection of reasonable croissants and cookies. Aggressive about collecting your cup when you're done. Crowded at 330pm on a Wednesday afternoon. Music inside is hard rock, too loud.

I ordered online, and my drink was ready by the order time. (A tasty flat white!)
Currently it looks like you can order at the door in person or online, with no public seating.

Maybe I visited on a bad day, but the drip coffee was watery and bland. I asked the barista to recommend a dark roast coffee to take home, he recommended the "El Mundo" blend. This is medium roast at best and lacks depth of flavor. A very plain roast in my opinion.

Coffee. . . .PROPERLY roasted. High quality beans. Need I say more? Great service, though you might have a line at peak times. The coffee is worth it though! I rate their coffee as some of the best in San Diego.

A humble coffee roastery with delicious beans and even more delicious coffee. It's marked by a plain "COFFEE SHOP" sign outside with very limited seating. But the beans and coffee are prepared expertly.
In the mornings, I absolutely love getting a French Press with a Honeywheat bagel. For some reason, this coffee shop has the most delicious honeywheat bagels I have ever had. Pair that with the complex, yet extremely delicious, french press - A breakfast worth the stop. Perfect start to morning road trips.
