I am here in San Diego for the week and have tried a few coffee spots, but Achilles hits my weak spot (which isn't my heel).

This establishment offers a variety of food and drink options. They make their own chocolate in house for their mocha and it's delicious! It is one of the best mocha's I've had. I been getting the large mocha, which has two shots of espresso.

Every barista working has been very nice and conversational. I have been three times and been served by three different, wonderful, people. I did not get their names sadly to thank them.

If you want a phenomenal coffee to start your day this is the place to go. I do wish they had some local pastries for those who don't want a full fledged breakfast option.

Very delicious and comfortable atmosphere! The entire staff was very polite and welcoming! Plenty of food and drink options in a hip part of San Diego! The coffee was roasted to perfection and the latte and chai were delicious. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in town!

One of the best coffee roasters in San Deigo! Tons of great pour overs, espresso, specialty coffee drinks. Food menu is great and more robust than it would seem at first glance. Great acai bowl and breakfast sandwiches. Good outdoor and indoor seating areas in the heart of the gaslamp district. Must visit if you're staying in downtown!

Achilles is your go to coffee shop in the Gaslamp district. Good bagels and extensive menu for breakfast. They also accommodate all pups! I enjoyed the French toast and the iced tea. The oatmeal was good too. My favorite coffee shop by far in the area. And it was only place we went for breakfast. Natalie and Lanna were very kind and had great customer service.

My opinion as a home coffee roaster, Achilles Coffee is my new standard of coffee shop. Their quality of bean, the weighted precision of every cup made, and the cleanliness of their process is unmatched. The only thing missing is glassware in addition to takeaway cups but I understand their market decision for that based on their location and clientele. Have a shot of espresso and a fancy drink. You’ll be as impressed as I am.

Super chill spot in the heart of Gaslamp District in San Diego. Seating both indoors and outdoors. Mostly shaded areas in the morning. Service was fast and hospitable. No drip coffees just americano or pour over which will take a minute (actually 5-7 minutes). They have free dog biscuits and also free wi-fi. Beautiful corner spot.

THE best coffee in and around San Diego! The breakfast options are fantastic as well!
Chad and his team are great people and cultivate a fun and inviting vibe.

This Seattle girl was not impressed. We ordered 2 drinks- "The Aztec" that was supposed to have mexican chocolate, brown sugar and cream and "El Cortez" with cardamom, brown sugar, mint and cream. Was expecting something delicious and special but they both tasted like plain black coffee with a splash of plain creamer. I've had better coffee at Denny's. It wasn't busy but it took over 30 minutes to get my drink. Just a really disappointing experience.

Summary: I had a mediocre flat white and a great large latte (which was the opposite of what I’d expect from a good coffee shop)

What happened: I had an odd experience as someone who likes third wave coffee
I chose a flat white (8oz) which is usually very coffee focused, shows off the espresso (usually two shots espresso in 8oz cup)
My wife likes a large warm drink as we walk so she ordered a large latte (16oz of usually coffee flavoured milk)

My flat white was weak, and her 16 oz latte was super delicious *good* strong espresso taste. Remember the flat white is 8oz total and the latte is 16oz, and it was stronger, meaning it probably had more then 2x the shots) all in all I’ll be back but won’t pay 4.25 for a weak flat white. But will buy a large latte hoping it will be the same.

the cashiers were really rude. they also forgot to add something i ordered, and when i asked where it was i had to reorder it and they still put it at the back of the queue and made us wait another 15 min. the food and coffee were good though and they had a vegan sandwich option.
