Bought a Mexican Chiapas coffee coffee - this is the worst coffee beans I had in years. The coffee beans are uneven in size, the roast is not uniform and way darker than conventional light roast is supposed to be. The smell is OK, but very plain. But all of this is alright, as long as the taste is fine, however this is the worst part - it is very-very bitter. I played around with it for some time trying to dial in yield and extraction, but this coffee is simply unsalvageable. I've even try to deliberately underextract it by lowering the temperature and making grind pretty course and even removed the crema, but to no avail - I still cannot taste any acidity in it - only overwhelming bitterness. Any roaster who is not ashamed to put a coffee like this for sale does not deserve to be in business.

I was visiting one day with a friend who has literally visited coffee houses around the world. He was very impressed and Connoisseur is now his "go-to" for roasted beans. I am also hooked. The staff is 2nd to none. Very knowledgeable and friendly.....super impressive. The owner came down and met with us and the following day I brought about 8 more friends.....

Connoisseur coffee is the right place if you want a strong coffee drink. First, before you ever park or get within 100 feet of the building, you'll pick up the fantastic, caramelized scent of darkly roasting coffee beans. It's a rich, wonderful fragrance that carries down the block. Second, there's some free, off-street parking adjacent to the building. It's tight, but it usually has 1-2 spaces open.
Now, about the coffee. Get an espresso drink, and don't be afraid to ask them to personalize it for you. They don't have a cortado or gibraltar on their menu, but we asked, and the owner was happy to make two for my colleague and me. It's a strong espresso, and I was wide awake and ready to go afterward. The flavor was strong, maybe a little astringent, but the flavor was satisfying. You can buy the roasted beans by the pound if you want, and there are also a plethora of loose leaf teas that are of fine quality.
A downside of the space is a lack of seating. It's great if you want to grab and go, but I think it would be even better with some seating. Let's be real, you're here for the coffee and espresso. It's good, maybe over-roasted, but a solid 4/5. Besides, the wonderful aroma of roasting coffee beans is like none-other, and that is a quality benefit of visiting.

Mostly industrial setting, roasting their own coffee and making interesting blends. Good, rich taste! Can get season there but not really a place to hang out. They're busy making coffee!

Highly recommended for quality coffee at reasonable prices. I used to go to blue bottle, but not any more. Choose your beans to suit your taste and you will be happy. Love the variety of single origins

I've been a fan for years. This is my go-to source for wonderfully roasted coffee beans. Do you think Starbucks coffee is a bit burnt, or other coffees just meh? Would you really like to look forward to your first cup of coffee every day? Talk to the coffee bean folks here. They can suggest one or two coffees (as beans to fresh grind, or they can grind it) for your French press, cappuccino or filter. You can also get fresh coffee to go as well.

A great place for a cup of coffee and a bag of beans! There's not much in terms of seating, only a single table with a few chairs.
They have a lot of beans and roasts to choose from, which they will talk you through as needed. They also have at least 2 different brewed coffees every day, and invite you to try a taste to check out the different beans and roasts. I had a soy latte which uses their espresso blend of 9 different beans! Yum.
They have a lot of loose-leaf tea options and their own hot chocolate blend (with a bit of cinnamon).
Their bean prices are quite reasonable! I got a half pound each of the "Eye Opener Blend" and "Java Estate" to try at home.

Great coffee. If you like it dark and strong, don't let them talk you into trying a "more flavorful" lighter roast. They have a fine selection of dark roasts with plenty of flavor.

I can't tell that they are connoisseurs, but they do their own roasting. Very low key place... not really anywhere to sit down and mostly thermos coffee although their espresso was OK.
