The food is genuine and tasteful. I came from LA just to try it. There were multiple layers and texture to each dish I had ordered. Definitely worth the wait. The drinks were also amazing the bar owner came and gave high fives as well. This place is a must!
This is a great addition to the Oakland bar scene. Have you watched the second season on Dollface when the friend opens a bar geared towards women as a safe space? This feels like that, but way better because it's genuine, not cheesy, and is a safe space for all.
The drinks were well balanced and inventive. The bartender was knowledgeable and their bar is well stocked to make just about whatever you can order. The waitstaff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We didn't order much food but the chicory salad was delicious as were the sunchokes.
The only downside is that it is LOUD -- like Mua loud. Bring your outside voices for inside seating, or choose to sit in one of the two outside spaces where the cement walls and loft-style floor to ceiling windows don't echo the noise.
One of the best cocktail bars in Oakland, full stop. The cocktails are amazing, the nibbles are delicious, and the people who work there are warm and helpful. The people set this place apart… they want you there and it shows. This place gets packed so get there early if you have a large crew.
Nice date night location. Small interior is broken up into tables for 2. Candles and live flowers at each table setting is a nice touch. Lots of tequila and mezcal based drinks.
Fantastic bar and even better staff! Came for a birthday party and loved everything about it! You ever go to a bar where the staff seems to be having as much fun as the patrons? That's F&F. We had a big group and the bartenders were hella attentive and took great care of us!
Just go here and get pampered with all the delights of the senses.
I was on tour and had the afternoon off. I was road weary and my muscles were aching. I walked in to the makers market last Sunday and was surrounded by beautiful friendly people selling their magnificent hand-made wares. I got to make some friends and the laughter & smiles melted my aches away. It started to rain and everyone worked together as a group to move to he things that were getting wet indoors, just like one mind. It was beautiful to see the love and cooperation that this bar exudes in every way. Truly lives up to it’s namesake.
I tried a aperol spritz. It had a big fat green olive in it! I freakin love olives. That drink was an elixir that loosened me up even with super-low ABV. I think that these folks put extra love into everything they make & do. It’s rare to find such a thing in the world there’s days. Cherish it!
I’ve been here several times now and the cocktails are great and it’s beautiful inside. That said, I just keep finding I don’t really enjoy being there. It’s somewhat cold and since the entire place is concrete, it’s truly unbearably loud. The acoustics are so awful and you can’t talk or hear anyone you’re with.
The menu is overpriced and I wish they’d have it clearly marked what is vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc. Most bars and restaurants in Oakland these days do this standard now. I’ve had a very tiny $6 bowl of sad, cold popcorn there as a supposedly vegan option.
It just doesn’t live up to the hype for me after going about a dozen times. I want to support a queer bar but it doesn’t feel particularly welcoming or warm. YMMV especially if none of your queer friends are vegan.
