Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Cafe

We ordered the beet salad, steak frites, the pastrami, the gnocchi and started with the burrata with crostini. The burrata was heavenly, chef's kiss, perfection! Each one of us truly enjoyed our meal and even our dog who got her own chicken. Our service by Stacey and busser, Adolfo, only enhanced our dining experience. Would give more stars, if I could.

Great food, great wine. Our server Taylor was very helpful and attentive. We came in the late afternoon when it’s not too busy and really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

Very popular place, which means long waits for tables and even takeouts. The turkey club sandwich is flavorful and well worth the money. The cheese plate is lacking in presentation for takeouts as well as taste (mine came with old arugula leaves), wouldn't get this again.

Our party of four enjoyed great meals and the inside diners were few and far between, which made us happy and comfortable. The room was comfortable and quiet, with most guests eating outside on the extended patio seating areas. The server was friendly enough, but not very attentive. The service slack was taken up by a young floating server/busboy who was very helpful and met every request quickly and politely. We'll be back.

So this rating app needs some way to differentiate between service quality of a place and food quality. The cuisine deserves a 5+ due to impeccable flavors, & presentation. The service on three different visits was sub par and disappointing. At the very least might a patron expect the offer of water and a menu within 5-8 minutes of being seated? And then how about a return to the table at select times throughout the meal to inquire whether everything is okay or something else is needed? Our initial server on the second visit was observed hanging about the bar - talking with other staff - and my attempts to catch their eye was frustratingly unsuccessful. We were extremely grateful toward the end of our meal to have a different server attend to us. Kudos and thanks to Lacei for attentively stepping in and efficiently taking care of us for the rest of our time there. Compliments also to the chefs. Extraordinary fare - but the ambience and service (except for Lacei) have not done justice to the cuisine and wines. I am hard pressed to convince myself to return or to encourage others to go, as the dining experience is heavily impacted by not only the food but by those who are serving it. I think perhaps it's a matter of training. An establishment doesn't have to be stuffy and pretentious to ensure excellence. Simply being conscientious and attentive goes a long way to communicating to the customer that their patronage is appreciated. Service matters. So 5+ stars for the food; 1.5 for restroom cleanliness and 2.5 for service, and that's being liberal. Perhaps others will have a different experience - and I hope so.

This lovely local eatery was the perfect spot for watching holiday festivities on a chilly night. Their beautiful patio was cozy & warm with overhead heaters—and is dog friendly! Excellent wine selection. Great menu with something for everyone.

How can such a diverse menu have all great options, year after year after year. This is what restaurants should be.

Got there for late lunch staff was standing around polishing glasses service was slow food was just ok. Salad was not fresh. Doors opened and flies buzzed our table the whole time. Will not go back and if you have options take my word and go somewhere else.

I've been there in the past it's an excellent place to eat while you're in los olivos
