A little too pricey, or at least what I'm used to paying, but my dirty chai was good. Love the options they have and how they have the shop set up.

Today was my first time in, and I will definitely be returning. The shop was clean with cool art and carefully curated products. I was greeted by very friendly staff, had a delicious lavender iced latte. Overall a really cool vibe!

The staff are super friendly and inviting. The atmosphere was so wholesome. The other patrons were also incredibly friendly. I fell in love with The Hamlett before I even got my drinks. I got the pumpkin spice latte and it was SO PUMPKIN-Y. I will definitely be returning!

This place is so fun! We LOVED IT!! Everything is yummie yummie yummy! Highly recommend the Beet Rose Latte. The folks there behind the counter are so sweet and beyond wonderful! We even received gifts! WOW! They have fun games to play at your table too. Can't wait to go back there :D

This is a spot where individuals from different generations can come together and enjoy a upbeat environment. This is the second time we visited this coffee spot. We're definitely making this a regular place to visit. The staff is awesome, professional and friendly. The environment is welcoming and relaxing. We enjoyed the beverages, products and the entire experience. Love this new spot and all that it has to offer. 💕💕👍🏾👍🏾🦋🦋 Support black owned businesses...💕💕

Coffee is decent but the customer service was terrible! We happened to chance upon this beautiful cafe during our first visit through Lemon Grove. So- being coffee lovers who are new to the San Diego area, we decided to give it a try and support a black owned business. We walked in found 2 people besides ourselves (who were both friends/associates of a woman behind the counter who appeared to be the owner or manager). No greeting.
We waited patiently as the women chatted. Once their conversation was over and the friend left, we stepped towards the counter hoping that it would prompt an acknowledgement– and crickets. We completely stopped looking at the menu and tried to make eye contact… STILL we were not greeted! We stepped closer to the counter and asked a question (thinking maybe that would prompt a welcome or greeting), and the woman who appeared to be the manager looked at us and flatly said, “We’ll be with you in a minute”. Needless to say - she never did circle back to greet us or ask us for our order. We were ultimately greeted after waiting patiently for about seven minutes by a young lady who was in training.
After placing our order, we waited for what seemed much longer than all other coffee shops we’ve tried out, but it gave us an opportunity to admire how beautiful the café actually is! I personally couldn’t wait to get out of there due to the lack of customer service that we experienced.
It wasn’t until this evening that I finally read about The Hamlett and the amazing vision to support other minority owned businesses. I would say to the proprietor that the vision behind the café is amazing and something we stand behind,! BUT- the people managing the day-to-day are not customer friendly and will ultimately drive potential customers away. We don’t plan on returning specifically due to the customer service experience. This is heartbreaking to have to do, but we have to do much better when we are supposed to be serving “our own community”!

Love the vibe here, great customer service by Sylise, I order the peaches & cream tea, and raspberry pastry. 😋

This has become one of my favorite coffee shops. I feel really welcome when I go there and the customers are a nice mix of people. I was so glad to discover that the owners are black. I'm always glad to support different ethnic owners because each one brings there own personalty to the shop. As of August 6, 2021 the coffee shop hasn't been taken over by students, studying for hours on end. It can get really busy, especially on weekends but we went on a weekday and found seating.
Most of the staff there is super friendly, I think 2 of the employees are new, in training and unsure of themselves and come off a little hard edged. Personally, as a 45 year European style coffee follower I was pleased with the flavor of the coffee. Coffee roasting and preparation are an art and good baristas can bring out the subtle flavors even house coffee (non espresso). It's catty-corner to the Lemon Grove trolly stop near hwy 94.

Love this place! Great coffee drinks and decor, friendly service and some nice products as part of their apothecary. The beet rose latte and pumpkin spice latte were enjoyed by both my husband and I.
