Review of Royal Ground Coffee

Royal Ground Coffee: a local mini-chain serving signature blends plus beer, sandwiches & pastries in casual digs. This coffee shop is located at 1127 Solano Ave, Albany, CA 94706. It is a cozy and inviting spot that offers a variety of coffee blends, pastries, sandwiches, and beer. The shop also doubles as a coworking space, making it an ideal spot for remote workers and students alike.

The menu at Royal Ground Coffee is top-notch, with a wide variety of coffee beans to choose from. The hot latte is a favorite among regulars, and the mushroom coffee is a unique and tasty option. However, some customers have noted that the execution of the food and drinks can be mediocre at times, with quantity taking precedence over quality.

Despite this, the service at Royal Ground Coffee is consistently friendly and welcoming. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and always willing to help customers find the perfect drink or snack. The ambiance of the shop is warm and inviting, with both indoor and outdoor seating available.

One of the standout features of Royal Ground Coffee is its early opening hours. It is the only coffee shop in Albany that is open before 8 am, making it a popular spot for early risers and commuters. However, some customers have noted that the milk is over-frothed and the temperature is brought up too high, resulting in less-than-perfect lattes.

Overall, Royal Ground Coffee is a great spot for a quick coffee or a cozy place to work or study. While the execution of the food and drinks may not always be perfect, the friendly service and inviting atmosphere make it a popular spot in the community.

The mushroom coffee got me hooked! Going back there for sure!

Decent espresso bar and baked goods. The main drawback in my opinion is slow service. They seemed generally understaffed, so I definitely cannot blame the barista.

The drip coffee my partner ordered was average but my espresso was good. We split a blueberry muffin which was delightful and well worth the price.

Looks like a cool joint, but can't tey their coffee, sadly, as they don't have heavy cream, only half&half. Coffee places should wake up and follow the trend of high quality joints... Heavy cream has half the sugars of half&half... it's good for you...

My favorite coffee shop in Berkeley/Albany area.
For me it's THE standard for consistency and perfect, for taste, Cappuccino
The gold standard. I compare all others and none have come up to this. Pro's , accessible, and friendly.

Nice cafe. Stopped by looking for a nice place to sit and read my book. The coffee is good and I liked the ambiance.

The drip coffee is terrible. Doesn’t taste fresh. Burned from brewing at high temperature. If you care about coffee at all, you’d even be better off at any major chain coffee place. If you don’t care about coffee, this is your place.

Great service. Great coffee. Definitely come again.

Great ambiance, great service, delicious sausage egg muffin, good pastries and I like that they have some gluten-free although it would be great if they had more. I also wish that they had more protein things after breakfast besides a bowl of hard-boiled eggs

Consistent good quality. Vegans, take note:: they have a decent selection of packaged oatmeal cups from reliable suppliers like Bob's Red Mill.
