I brought my two kids in this place and had an unforgettable experience, and it’s just food but this place has a Vibe that you can’t deny.

Cuban sandwiches are over the top!

Traveled here for work for a few days and took stuff back to my hotel for every meal. It was fantastic. Really good spicy Italian sandwich that day too!

I found a piece of Old Alaska (in 2019 format) in...Petersburg.
Among decrepit (historic) buildings, is the Salty Pantry, an exquisite bakery that serves dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 on Mondays.
The charming owner of the nearby toy store tipped me off. She cautioned, however, that the chef experiments with wild recipes and is, well, sort of an exotic spice freak.
When I arrived at 6, there was a line stretching toward Sing Lee Street (an alley by most standards). Folks had shown up with Tupperware to grab a take-home or take-aboard Monday gourmet experience.
Jammed onto a metal stool against the window, I discovered that I was now in the middle of a community party. Creations of beef and pork and eggplant coupled with burgers that I couldn't imagine stretching my jaw to get between my upper and lower mandibles.
No table service. Cafeferia style. The Salty Pantry reminded me of some other improbable places, in Nome and in Craig and in....
I elected the more prosaic roast pork loin stuffed with feta and sundried tomatoes and other things I couldn't discern. And, since the pork wasn't the only stuffed thing by the end of my meal, I should have forgotten the coconut cream pie. Real. Too enticing.
I went back and lay down on my hotel bed to moan, determined not think of politics or a Big Mac so I didn't puke.

Great breakfast, friendly staff. A real charmer in Petersburg.

The food was amazing. Only open for dinner on Mondays and I was glad I was in Petersburg on a Monday. All the food was in essence home made. The desserts were out of this world.

Ordering anything here is tough because inevitably they'll bring out something hot and delicious looking just as you sit down with whatever you ordered and get you second guessing yourself. Fantastic pastries and sandwiches, just about everything is homemade.
