This place is cute and small. A good place to sit and sip a coffee for a while. The cookies and cream frappe is amazing and I havent found anything else like it. Only issue I have is that the past couple of times I went in the people were kind of rude to me. Once I didn't tip on my recipt after paying with card because I had cash to tip with but when the woman saw zeros on my tip she started getting upset and was very short with me. Reguardless I still tipped in their tip jar. I went today and they weren't as rude but my friend and I were the only customers and instead of taking our order when we were ready they helped the customer that walked in behind us because he was a regular. Now, I understand when you have a regular you want to keep their business, but that is no reason to blow off another customer. I only go here now because I haven't found another cookies and cream anywhere that matches theirs. Just be aware when you go in that you may not get the service you deserve.

My personal choice for coffee houses in Eagle River not only do they have good Beverages & Baristas they have a nice area to sit and relax and of course there is Wi-Fi. It has more of a home relaxed atmosphere on the inside. They offer a nice selection of baked goods as well along with great customer service. If you haven't stopped for coffee at the Sleepy Dog I highly recommend you giving it a try. Life's too short best enjoy good coffee.

My favorite Eagle River coffee, great staff and a 20oz latte has the correct 4 shots espresso instead of Starshmucks making u pay extra. Lots of snacks and chai teas (love Tiger Spice), and drip coffee if u dnt like it fancy. The rewards card has only like 15-20 punches so u can feasibly get a free coffee. Parking is difficult, watch that its a one way on either side and exit onto Market St. No idea why anyone would go somewhere else

Don't get me wrong, usually I love Sleepy Dog.
The coffee isn't anything special, but that's Alaska. However, I do expect people who've been in the coffee business for "28 years" to know what a cortado is...
Luckily, they made up for it with rude jokes & overcharging me for calling them out on their BS :)
Very traditional service. Homely atmosphereâjust make sure not to talk to anyone.

Love the coffee drinks, the bakery items, the friendly staff, the atmosphere and that they are dog friendly. I can't wait to go back and visit!

I absolutely love this place. Everything is made with so much love!!All the baristas are awesome however i really love, Keylee and Kristy. đ They suggested a blonde. My good ness heaven in a cup. I had to buy a bag for home!! I don't even live or work in eagle river but when i am in "town " i make sure to go get some of my Favorite coffee.

Yes, I never had sleepy dog and I was concerned and doubtful that it wouldnât be good. BUT WHEN I TOOK A SIP OF MY DRINK! I felt like I was heaven. This is probably my go to place now.

A slice of quiet old town in a rapidly growing suburb, Sleepy Dog feels like it's been there forever, and in a way, it has, evolving from an offshoot of a restaurant it shared the block with that has long sinced burned down.
The food is pretty good but not great, nor particularly varied. Coffee is basic in that "time tested standards" sort of way, but still quite good. There's a number of cold beverages also available if caffeination isn't on your menu for the day.
The building is old and cozy, and has two distinct sitting areas, one with windows out the front of the building if you like natural light and a quiet, more privacy-minded area in the back for small groups or people who want to read or get work done in relative tranquility.
For those on the go, there is a drive through option as well.
This place is almost never noisy, and thanks to its peace and quiet, old architecture and furniture, becomes more than the sum of it's parts as a place to go have a cup of coffee and relax away from the cares of the world. If you want fancier drinks, more modern stylings, or faster internet and don't mind the noise that tends to show up in those venues, Starbucks is very nearly literally next door, and so is Jitters, in the opposite direction.
For everyone else, there's Sleepy Dog, and the friendly and cheerful baristas will be waiting to greet you.

I went thru the drive up today & was served a healthy dose of poor customer service. The gals questioned everything I asked for, didn't get my order right, & I could hear the one gal talking sarcastically about me to her counter customers! I don't consider it unusual for me to ask them to make sure my 2 yo' s hot cocoa is not too hot. How very rude! Guess where I'll never be back to!

Staff was nice, place was clean, they have the most chai options I have ever seen in my life.
My only gripe is that it's cramped, but it isn't an ordeal. Clients were nice and it didn't cause any issues.
