This was our first visit to this establishment
It surely won't be the last time we visit them. We went there based on a recomendation by a man we had just met in Dodge, Wi. He was absolutely correct when he told my wife and I that it was very good food and the service was also exceptional. Hard to believe that we have lives in this area for over 10 years and never heard of the place before now. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with the food, service or portion sizes. Try it and see for yourself!

Was camping at Perrot and stopped in for breakfast. Breakfast was awesome! Ton of food. Seven pieces of Fench Toast, three strips of bacon, oj
and coffee. Only $19! Dirt cheap.
Service was very good as well. Waitress was quick, friendly and efficient!
Will stop in next tjme I'm in town!

Nice small town Cafe. We had a traditional English breakfast, an eggs benedict, raspberry cheesecake stuffed French toast, and a kids pancake. Everything was cooked well. Every body enjoyed breakfast.

I was in Winona, MN for business, and whenever I travel, I search for food options different than those I experience at home. Most of that involves going to non-chain restaurants, and after a brief Google search the River Cafe came up as an intriguing option.
Its location was about 25 miles from my hotel, but the positive reviews prompted me to try it. I was seated immediately by the host, and he then came back for my drink order. I usually have cream and sugar with my coffee, and all he brought was a cup of coffee, 2 packets of sugar and 2 single serve half and half containers. That's really not an issue, other than the fact that he had to keep running back and forth for refills.
The menu isn't too extensive, but there's something for everybody. I opted for the 'Basic' breakfast, which consists of two eggs, choice of meat, potato and bread. When he asked how I wanted my eggs done, I said 'soft scrambled' and he had no idea what I wanted. Instead of going into what constitutes soft scramble versus regular scramble, which is only a few minutes less on a grill, I decided to go with another option. Again, not a big deal whatsoever.
I eventually chose over medium eggs, sausage links, hash browns and English muffin. They provided salt and pepper packets but didn't offer ketchup, hot sauce or anything like that. The salt and pepper did just fine, as I'm not too fussy. You get the true taste of the food without too many spices. Overall, the food was quite tasty and I will be back on my future visits to try something different.
